Thus, BSG’s version of “Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion”.

Gaaaaay.
thirtyhelens
I LOVE this brand of gaaaaaay. I'm gonna have to look at that again...
gulfcoast_highwayman
In the UK, we've just had the one with frak-crazy Kara (too hot for words) and the end of lovely Cally.

Where are we in relation to the US broadcasts? I'm scared to come on here due to spoilers.

ETA Don't worry, I had a look on TWOP and we seem to be right up to date.

But will they find earth, or do we have to wait for another Barry Van Dyke special!
*

I remember seeing that, so bad. I wonder if they''ll have earth (if they find it) as 'backward', i.e. present tech rather than future tech, or whether it will be an earth of the future. Clearly we're unaware of our cool ass space roots. I'm borrowing series 1 tomorrow. W00t!

It's going to be so weird if that is the case. Science fiction can work because it is separate from our own reality so it's easier to accept the stranger elements, but bring the two together and it may become difficult to suspend the disbelief. Thus, a future Earth may work better.

And surely a scenario that involves finding Earth at all can not be resolved in this, the final season...

In my opinion the final cylon is Gaeta
ipse dixit
Wouldn't that just be a bit rubbish, though? I dunno, I can't think of anyone that it could turn out to be that would impress me now. Roslin and Adama seem too obvious, Balthar and Starbuck have been suspected already, but there aren't many other characters that feel important enough for it to matter. So then the other option is to have a new character come in, but that would mean there was no dramatic reveal and after 4 seasons of guessing, it feels like it really ought to be someone we already know.
Jessopjessopjessop
Exactly. Gaeta would be boring and pointless.
Sostie
Maybe they find the one true God and he turns out to be the final Cylon!

Unlikely, and a bit stupid, bit it would be a surprise.
Drifter
It would be a letdown if Gaeta was the final Cylon but Im thinking they (writers) may be banking on someone in the background instead of all the commotion over the big figureheads being the final Cylon....I wouldnt even put it past them to have Cally as one.

I mean, imagine the implications if Cally was a Cylon, her and Tyrol have had a baby and that baby could be the first full Cylon child born to 2 Cylons. Also, didnt Cally say she was suffering insomnia at the end of Season 3 just as the other 4 started to hear music bringing them together - she took pills, maybe those pills countered the music, I dont know, Im reaching here but its possible that Cally could be the final Cylon - Id prefer her over Gaeta

Not only that, but he's also every single one of the Lords of Kobol, Thor, Vishnu, the Kaled God of War...

...sorry about that. I went all Final Frontier then.
Omniscia
I'm still not entirely convinced that Ellen Tigh wasn't a Cylon.

Man I hope you're wrong about that. Least favorite character ever. I actually did a little happy dance when Tigh killed her. I'm betting on Roslin as the final Cylon.

Have to admit, they always deliver. Even after big fat downers like last week's ending, within seconds I'm cracking up.

I'd forgotten the Westworld one. Pure class.

And The Thing one is fantastic. Hard to believe the guy did so much on his own.

Well, I think Tuesday's episode has put pay to that one...

I am wondering about the significance of the music heard... The particular song that they were hearing... Do you think that Jimi Hendrix could be the last Cylon?
Chapman Baxter
Very strong third episode, I thought, with a classic 'I can't believe they just did that' ending.

Well, since the music is a cover of a Bob Dylan song by someone called Bear McCreary, Hendrix didn't have anything to do with it!
Starscream`s Ghost
Barry Scott is the last Cylon.

Think about it.

Damn my memory... I thought it was the Hendrix...

OK... so, Bob Dylan as the last Cylon... whaddya think?

And I'm lost on the Barry Scott reference.

Perhaps Cylit is code for Cylon, and when the Cylons, come: BANG, and the dirt (which could also be called earth with a little e) is GONE! Is there a more obvious reference I'm missing?

I just need to stop thinking. Still, I think for something that had absolutely no link, I did a pretty good job of making one up.

I reckon Ade is the final Cylon. Sent to secretly destroy human society with his puns.

I would've said you're the Pylon, but I didn't want forum members jumping on me in a heap.
NiteFall
Ade's a pylon? Shocking!
NiteFall
Holy shit. I did not see that one coming at all.
thirtyhelens
Which one? Tyrol getting the sack, Baltar being poltergeist'ed by Head-Six in front of everyone, or Caprica Six beating the shit out of Tigh and then making out with him?

All pretty stunning. What a claustrophobic episode, though. Except for the quorum meeting on Colonial One, the whole thing took place on Galactica and I swear the hallways are getting smaller. Or maybe they're shooting it to look that way, which would be evil (and brilliant.)
Omniscia
Galactica is a military vessel, right? So why are all these cultists running around its corridors, anyway? Isn't there a civilian transport out there they can jump on?

Ever since New Caprica, they've taken on civilians who needed shelter after a number of ships in the fleet were destroyed. (See: "The Woman King", the episode last season where Helo stepped up to the plate for those wacky Sagittarons.) Baltar's culty harem are some of those civvies; as they stated in an earlier ep, though, none of the other ships want to harbor him after his acquittal. And as Adama noted this week, they could force one of them to take him but Roslin said she didn't want to do that, she'd rather keep an eye on him.

Someone I work with is convinced that the final Cylon is Doc Cottle. He claims to have his reasons as to why, but his refusal to share them makes me think that he's talking out of his ass.

Not enough of a high impact character to really make that much of a "oh my gods, I can't fracking believe it." impact!
Omniscia
Maybe it's Tom Zarek.
thirtyhelens
^ I was considering that and thinking "You know... it wouldn't be as high-impact as someone in the top eight-ten of the credits, other than the already-revealed Secret Four... but it could be awesome.

I did mention further up that it could be him, I think it would be brilliant if it were considering who he played in the original series happy.gif

Either that or they bring back Dirk Benedict in some form or another - that would be even better biggrin.gif

OK, that made me do a right good Google.... And I completely forgot Robbie Rist was on Galactica 1980. I don't even remember watching that! He's best known over here as Cousin Oliver on The Brady Bunch. (And he was in my friend Gary's band. Nice guy.)

We're really pushing the necessity for spoiler tags again, BTW.
Svein
What makes you say that...after all, I know it's Adama...
gulfcoast_highwayman
Blimey, last night's was intense! And the acting from all the major players was superb. It almost made me forget that the bastards killed Cally (and Frak You Chief! She was too good for you! Adama should have kicked your arse).

Galactica 1980 was absolutely shite, it was the flying bikes and the Milky Bar Kid that killed it for me

Am I the only person finding the new season really dull!

I am afraid in case it stears itself toward a religious/new age/hippy/wanky finale. Like 2001 or Contact.
