I am afraid in case it stears itself toward a religious/new age/hippy/wanky finale.  Like 2001 or Contact.

Not dull as such but I'm sick to the back teeth of the mystic bullshit from both the Cylons and Baltar's sorry little group.
Sostie
Less God, more guns.

i don't know, i have really enjoyed the first four episodes, mainly because gaius is the king of the program, generally hilarious and it would be dreadful without him...

although, tigh is also ace.

i still wish apollo and starbuck would fuck off though. they need to die before the end of the series.

How did you not become London Mayor?

I'm sick of Tigh now, as well. He basically growls the same lines of dialogue every episode.

I was genuinely gutted when Starbuck 'died', but now she's back she's become a frakking twat again.
dandan
starbuck's always been a twat. and, tigh has grumbled the same lines since day one; that's what makes him so lovable. my only complaint is that he seems to have stopped being an alcoholic; unlike everyone else in the fleet...
Jimmay
Finished season 1 last night. I know I take an almighty risk even venturing into this thread to post it but hey. It's quite annoying though as seeing the front cover of box sets from later series I know that certain characters don't die and it leaves cliffhangers a little bit stale.
Jubei
Well, I'm on episode 7 next. I was really impressed by the first couple of episodes, 33 and Water. Real tension created by the situation, and sets up the rag-tag nature of the fleet and how precarious their situation is. The prison one, not so much, the following ones have been pretty good though. Also, Starbuck is really annoying. And I only realised yesterday that Adama is Gaff, duh! I knew I recognised the name.

Wow. Friday night's ep was just... WOW.

Jacob's nutshell assessment of Friday's ep in the TWoP recaplet. (spoilers therein, natch.)

Here, without spoilers:

I feel like a game controller that just got all its buttons pushed at once so I'm a little scattered, to say the least. What's better than A+? I give this episode three Shirtless Helos and a Starbuck's Haircut.

QUOTE
In addition to the hilarity and tenderness, which are abundant, there's also some of the best acting of the series: Helo, Laura, Gaius and Bill all turn in Emmy performances. Whatever star-magnitude of awesome Mary McDonnell's acting is usually at, go to nova. I guess they weren't kidding about offering this one For Your Consideration. I Consider it the Bomb Diggity.

laugh.gif He's not wrong.

Oooh - I haven't seen it yet. Excited now!
Ade
Easily one of the best, nay, the best ep of the season thus far. Good stuff.
dandan
seven and eight were great episodes. looking forward to sitting down with nine and ten next sunday...

Indeed. The magnificent Jane Espenson proves her worth. biggrin.gif

(And well timed after last week's, which I wasn't crazy about)

Nice to see Lucy Lawless up and about again. She's neat.

I'm now 3 episodes into series 2. I guess the series 1 cliffhanger isn't much of a cliffhanger if you've heard anything about the rest of the series, but it might have been nice to wonder.

(Jimmay, look away now if you haven't started series 2 and don't want some mild spoilers.)

On to series 2 and so far all 3 episodes seem to have been of a class above series 1. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed series 1, but series 2 seems to have really pulled out all the stops. Tigh's reign as acting commander is a spiralling mess, the crash site survivors are a tense and exciting little bunch, and Apollo seems to have grown another pair of balls (to add to the pair that aided him through the refinery conveyor tube).

I've quite happily spoiled myself up in terms of who are and aren't Cylons as well. Some might be horrified by that, but I've never been particularly bothered with knowing some snippets in advance. It makes watching it a lot more interesting when you know who is a Cylon, and just doesn't know it. Especially some bits in series 1, where 2 people who were Cylons but didn't know it were in scenes together.

I'm quite a bit through series 2 and am terrified of finding out the stuff which you've obviously sought out before seeing it on the show. Series 2 really is fantastic so far but the episode I watched last night was a huge step above the rest. It left me reeling with shock that a mainstream US television series would air some of the stuff that was on it. For those (Jubei) who aren't there yet, I'm talking about the episode Pegasus and the torture and rape of Boomer which left Sarah really shaken. I can't wait to see where the rest of this show goes but it has really upped its game and surpassed my expectations even more than before.

Well it is on a cable/satellite channel, so they can get away with a bit more than network telly. Also, someone correct me if I am wrong, I do not believe the Boomer rape portion was shown in the originally aired episode. It was only in the extended episode which was the first episode of 2.5 (2.0 has the original aired episode on it).

Indeed. I got a little teary.

Vince was very annoyed, though, as Adama stole his line - he said the exact same thing to me the first time I used the 'L' word. smile.gif
thirtyhelens
Oy, Vincenzo. Be honored that your line was lifted by such a perpetual proponent of badassery. laugh.gif

GRRR ARGH - too many geekdoms to keep up with, too little time. The midseason finale screened at the Dome last night with Ron Moore, Katee Sackhoff, Tricia Helfer and Mary McDonnell, and I didn't even know about it.

*head-desk-FERCLUNK*

Anyway, beware folks, it's been seen by many so the spoilers are out there.

Is a real bummer, fer shure.

Collider's spoiler-free wrap up of the festivities.

I'm looking forward to watching the episode again on Friday and trying to figure out what the final ten episodes are going to deal with.  If you thought the finale for season three was mindblowing, you're going to lose it.

They better give me a lot to keep me busy at work today, curiosity's killin'. laugh.gif And I can't wait to see Tara and Mike on Sunday, it's looking like we're going to spend the whole afternoon kvetching about BSG.
widowspider
Awesome. I won't get to watch it until Monday, tho - my folks are in town and not really BSG fans. smile.gif

Am I the only one who, for a split second as the fleet was hovering over Earth, half expected someone or something on the planet to fire on them, thinking they were hostile?

Some gripes, but so much to ponder. I like to ponder.

I don't like waiting another year. tongue.gif

Wait, what do you mean, another year..? ohmy.gif

Damn you, Sci-Fi! I can't wait that long! I had assumed hoped it would only be another week or two...

Now what am I going to watch? All my shows are on hiatus!
thirtyhelens
2009 at the earliest, apparently.

Yes. Damn you straight to hell, SciFi.

Fark. I have no idea how to wait that long.
Svein
Really, how can they call that a mid-season break, when it goes into the next year... It really should be considered a new season...

And yes I was expecting a Torchwood style weapon to open fire...
gulfcoast_highwayman
I know they had to, because they weren't sure if it would be back or not, but they really squeezed too much in, in particular the truce twixt human and toaster. I'm not convinced that they'd take the Cylons to Earth with them.

Anyway, more good stuff. Adama was awesome in the scene where Tigh revealed his true nature, and the one afterwards. You really believed his whole world view had been exploded.

Did anyone else have a little look up at the sky when the fleet arrived at Earth?

And I can't believe that they didn't mange to sneak a wrecked Statue Of Liberty into that last scene.

Ah. Quite possibly.
thirtyhelens
Could be, but based on the angle of the destroyed cityscape in the distance, it'd much more likely be the Brooklyn Bridge. (The Golden Gate's at more of a perpendicular angle to the center of SF.)
Jimmay
Just finished series 2 and it was really rather splendid. Thank you to Adam/Ellie for letting me know that Razor was a prequel and therefore didn't ruin the plot with it's DVD coverness. It meant the finale still had the impact it should have done. I'm not sure whether to start series 3 straight away or hold off for a little while.
Svein
Considering that it was BRITISH support that caused the continuation of this show, it's a shame the ending didn't have a ruined London.

Spoiler-ama! - in case anyone wants a look at Granddad Adama and Teh Hottest Ginger in the Galaxy ("Caprica" style) wink.gif
