Oh. Okay... I didn't realize how far back you guys are in the series! ohmy.gif
Svein
Yeah... the last Episode was The president, Apollo, Starbuck, Boomer and friends on that planet to find that path to Athena and Adama declaring that he was going to go back to the planet to get them!
Omniscia
Well, in that case, pay no attention to my prior comments. Not for a few weeks, at least.
Omniscia
It's going to be a loooooooooong wait until October...
DOD-MDK
My gods, What a finale. To all my UK friends. Make sure you are wearing your Depends Super-Absorbant undergarments when you watch "Lay Down Your Burdens part II" That is all I am going to say.
Svein
Well, over here it's getting really good... Glad to see that my faith was not missplaced!
NiteFall
Just sat down and watched episodes 18, 19 and 20 in one go. All I can say is, woah. That was cooooooool. Oh and that Dean Stockwell as the preacher that the chief goes to after going slightly screwy had me in absolute stitches
DOD-MDK
We might need to create a separate North American Thread for this one just like 24 and Lost.
DOD-MDK
To anyone watching it on Skyone. You might want to Download "Lay Down Your Burdens Part II" the one airing on Skyone is only going to be the hour long version, not the 90 min version that we got here and according to Ron Moore (The head honcho) the 60 min version is pretty much a confusing mess.
NiteFall
Ahhh, 90 minutes eh? That explains why BitTorrent took its sweet time delivering it to me.
DOD-MDK
Yep, and watch carefully. it gets a bit weird at the last 30 min.
NiteFall
What? With the whole being a year on, not saying any more than that, not even in a spoiler bit?
Omniscia
Yes, that. From that point on, things get rather uncomfortable.
Svein
HOLY CRAP...

Just caught the end of the first Pegasus episode... What a finale... Nice to see Michelle Forbes back in space... a little weathered, but still a foxy little dish none the less
gulfcoast_highwayman
What a cracking double header!

The tension was almost unbearable.

I'm hoping that now that the Chief has gotten over Sharon he can throw a bone to lovely Cally. She so purty.
Svein
Haven't seen it yet... plan on watching it on Saturday...

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA NEWS
SCI FI announces Galactica spin-off!
WEDNESDAY - APRIL 26, 2006

by Darren Sumner

By the Lords of Kobol ... The SCI FI Channel has stunned fans today with the announcement of Caprica, a spin-off series from its top-rated Battlestar Galatica. SCI FI calls the potential new show "television's first science fiction family saga," centering on the history of the Adama family and the birth of the Cylons.

Set more than 50 years before the events of Battlestar Galactica, Caprica takes place on the capital world of the Twelve Colonies. There humankind thrives, living in a peaceful society with the benefits of high technology. But the development of an advanced, robotic, artificial life form is about to change everything.

The show is in development by Galactica executive producers Ronald D. Moore and David Eick, 24 writer Remi Aubuchon, and NBC Universal Television Studio.

Here is the network's own description of the series:

The people of the Twelve Colonies are at peace and living in a society not unlike our own, but where high-technology has changed the lives of virtually everyone for the better. But a startling breakthrough in robotics is about to occur, one that will bring to life the age-old dream of marrying artificial intelligence with a mechanical body to create the first living robot -- a Cylon. Following the lives of two families, the Graystones and the Adamas (the family of William Adama, who will one day become the commander of the Battlestar Galactica) Caprica weaves corporate intrigue, techno-action and sexual politics into television's first science fiction family saga.

The announcement comes as part of SCI FI's development slate of original scripted series, mini-series, reality shows, and new late-night programming, with no word on when Caprica might go into production or premiere on the cable channel. The development slate is a long-look ahead at what the network has planned and likely not a formal pick-up of the show -- and some series, for one reason or another, never see the light of day.

If the show receives an order to go into production, certainly don't expect to see it air this year.

Count on GateWorld to continue to follow developments as they happen. The third season of Battlestar Galactica premieres this October on SCI FI.

What does that mean, anyway?

What about Lost in Space?

Anyway, if done right this could be an interesting show, but it sounds too much like a cheap cash-in on the success of the revitalized, reimagined Battlestar Galactica. While there is certainly a snowball's chance in Hell (I'm not being too generous, here) that it could be a success, it seems a little too risky to work. At the end of the day, I wouldn't be surprised to find not a Frasier, but an AfterM*A*S*H at our doorstep...
DOD-MDK
At Least to they are taking the risk. I dont think its going be anything like a "Lost In Space" I am thinking it will probibly be more of a "Dynasty" Meets "24" with a bit of "I-Robot" (Book not craptacular Movie)Thrown in. All three of the exec's on this show have a good track record of producing quality TV. It might not be as popular as "BSG" But it will be interesting.
Omniscia
I don't mean to insinuate it'll be anything like Lost in Space, I just take issue with their claim that it will be the first science fiction family saga.

I'll certainly give it a chance, in the event they actually go through with filming.

The most exciting news on this front involved Battlestar Galactica, which airs on the NBC Universal owned Sci Fi Channel. Debuting later this year will be a Web series spin-off for the acclaimed series called Battlestar Galactica: The Resistance. Lasting ten episodes, The Resistance will fill in the gap between season two and the upcoming season three.

Thank you, IGN, for finally reporting something worthwhile.

Though they're only expected to run about 15 minutes each, I'll certainly point my browser in their direction. I just wish I knew when to do so.
ayeyerma
I wanna see it now! Hope the next series is still good, I thought things were starting to get a bit silly towards the end of the last season.
Still the best programme on the box by a mile though.

Reminder to all US fans of Battlestar Galactica Tune in tonight at 9:00pm on Sci-fi for the 2 hour Season Premere of Battlestar Galactica.

To the UK fans. Be paitent, I have to wait for Doctor Who. You can wait for BSG.
Omniscia
Lalala, I still don't have the Sci-Fi Channel, lalala...

I may have to go the iTunes route. Fortunately, the LCD has a VGA input, so I can hook the laptop up to it.
DOD-MDK
All I have to say about the Premere is....... FRAK!!!!!
Omniscia
By some means, I finally managed to obtain the first two episodes of the season and, having spent an hour, hour-and-a-half wrestling with the laptop to try and convince it that, yes, my LCD TV can display 1280x720 without its needing to freeze every time I try and set it above 800x600, I have spent some quality time with both.

Indeed, frack. This will be a heck of a season!

I love how deliciously slimy and tormented Gaius is, in particular.

I seriously think this year we need to create the North American BSG thread because I wont be able to control myself about the spoilers!.
Omniscia
Now I need to go back and re-watch the end of S2 again, to remind me of who some of these people are. There are a few I just don't recognize. Well, okay, one I don't recognize: The guy (without spoiling much!) running around with Tyrol and Tigh.

Which one? Duck, Jammer or Anders? The Resistance Webisodes offer more info on Duck and Jammer. and Anders is Kara's new hubby. we first saw him on Caprica last year when Kara visited the Cylon fertility farm.

Actually If you could afford a car and the 50 to 70 bucks (Based on 2002 Ford Ranger pick-up est 23 miles to a gallon highway on a 19 gallon gas tank, from New York, NY to Raleigh NC one way) Cable might be cheaper. Now If I was still living In Syracuse that would be another story completly.

Ooo, I know what I'm watching, tonight!
NiteFall
Just watched Ep 1 of season 3.

I really liked it. Did anyone else laugh at "We need to instill fear into their hearts and minds!", that and the uber-creepy Cylon keeping Starbuck prisoner, telling her that she will end up loving him were particular highlights.

I think I laughed harder at "Now I want you to turn around and get your fat ass out of here" Admiral Adama to Lee
thirtyhelens
OK, all of yous - I've started to catch up. wink.gif Give me about a month and I'll be right there with ya. *bows to Netflix*
Omniscia
I didn't realize you weren't already on board!
thirtyhelens
Nope; I had a full docket of shows these past couple of years but now with the beauty of teh Netflix and some cancelled appt. TV, I can get up to speed. biggrin.gif
DOD-MDK
OK any bets on whether or not Tigh is going to KILL Ellen after finding out that she was the one to sell them out.

I say the odds are 50/50.

Place your bets now!
Omniscia
I think if he were going to, he would have done so already.

The big question for me is, what's Sharon going to do when she learns that Xena wasn't lying about Hera? After all, she's already tried to kill Adama once.

"All of this has happened before and all of this will happen again".
NiteFall
I was bad I watched the "in next weeks episode" bit at the end.
What if Baltar is a Cylon? It would explain a few things, like their unwillingness to execute him and the Baltar / 6 mind meld thing

Also "Skin is tougher than you'd think" laugh.gif
DOD-MDK
OK, Well I dont know what to say about last nights episode. one of the FINEST hours of TV ever. Heart Breaking, Gut Wrenching. God Damn.
Omniscia
I still haven't seen it... But that will be remedied soon.
