Just a quick one for those who care, apparently Tru Calling has been cancelled.
Never seen it myself, so I have no idea how good it is.
Hopefully this means we'll get a series of Faith - but somehow I doubt it!
You can read more
here.
Interesting how they used a picture of Eliza Dushku as Faith in the article

I read about this last night. I liked the programme too and was looking forward to a second season.

All I can say is thank god it got canned. It took the best part of a season to get anywhere, and then when it did it was because of Jason 90210 Priestley as the evil leaper. Dushku kept pulling the same worried face every episode and the story arc wasn't even looking like it was going to be that interesting.
I doubt if there will be a Faith spin-off either, what with Whedon busy with Firefly, not directing X3 and looking to do a project which moves away from everything he's done before.

thing is if they dont a faith series i cant see that being that good. by the time buffy had finished. the faith charecter had become such a watered down version of what it used to be that i doubt a spin off series would be that good.
if they turned her bad again then it would be worth it, but cant see them doing that for a long period of time.
same goes for any plans for a spike spin off as well.

Awww - no more weekly Eliza for me...
I can't see them doing a Faith spin-off but it
would be great. Only if she was a badass again though!
Then again, if they did, I'd probably die of a heart attack, so it's probably best if they don't.

Well I was planning on making a "Tru Calling" thread to announce the UK release of
True Calling - The Complete Series. This is on general release from 27th June 2005. This DVD, according to
BBC Cult - Tru Calling DVD will contain the complete first series and the six episodes of series two that they made pre-cancellation. £30 for EIGHT discs on preorder, doesn't sound too bad for a sure that was fairly decent. I for one enjoyed Dushku stepping outside the role of Faith in a non-teen movie environment. I may just invest in this myself when June comes around.

I didn't think it was a bad show. Had a kind of Quantum Leap feel to it. Don't know about 30 quid good though.

They are not even airing Tru Callings finale in the US...last week the annouced that the final 2 shows of it will be aired at a later date and it was being replaced by The Simple Life.
Now how much does THAT suck!!!!
According to Ask Auseiello at tv guide online..
Eliza Dushku will most likely be signing on as a semi regular on That 70's Show, now that Topher and Ashton have quit.
So, no plans for a Faith spin off unfortunately.
luvs nix
p.s The Buffy and Angel boxset pries are ridiculous over here! But ya get them fairly cheap in th amaray cases....not the box.
Just got the Tru Calling boxset, which includes the 6 filmed episodes of season 2. It's such a shame that this got cancelled as in the new 6 episodes it really picks up pace and starts setting out what look like a great story arc to run through the series. Shame I'll never get to see the end.

Thanks for the positive review there Baz, I might have to pick myself up a copy.

Indeed. I must say I am at the very least intrigued. Agree with Whitey though - I will likely wait for it to drop from the £30 price tag.

I gotta say I was never very impressed by Tru Calling. Granted, I only watched the first 3 or 4 episodes, but it just seemed a bit same-y. If what Baz is saying about a longer story arc is true, then maybe it would have got better.

I believe that this , given the chance would of grown into something quite good and remember, the 1st series of Buffy was shite.

In comparison to later seasons, touche. It's still got charm, though.

Series 6 of Buffy was great becuase it tried to be different and to touch on more serious things in life.

Oooh somewhere I can say that I saw an episode in America a while ago and thought it was awful. Dushku is not lead material she really isn't, though perhaps that's the director's fault. Anyway I'll not be worried about this. Dead like Me was cancelled and that annoyed me.

Oooh, a season 6 defender! -I like you. Yeah, I can see where people are coming from in saying that it's a weaker season, but I do think it's an important one and definitely does a lot for the characters in terms of where they end up for season 7. Plus, you know, Tabula Rasa & OMWF.
