League of Gentlemen Latest News

Also, it apparently has Tubs and Edward and other old characters back in it again.
sean_ofthedead
Oh, I cannot wait. With a bit of luck, it'll be fantastic. Imagine what they could do with all that money!? It boggles the mind.

There's more on it in one of those crappy weekly "lads mags", either Zoo or... Erm... The other one. Can't remember.

Old news!
It's called The League of Gentlemen - Ropyston Vasey, and the plot is this: The characters are in danger. They leave Vasey and go back in time, then they go into the real world and meet their creators (The League playing themselves)

The characters that return are:
Tubbs and Edward
Papa Lazarou
Geoff and Mike and Brian
And Herr Lipp

Well, it seems like the official title is The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse and trailers will start running today? before Meet The Fockers & Team America. I believe the release date is April 22.

Check out interview with Mark Gatiss

I was going to put this in Media but I figured there's enough cast interest to put it here.

The League Of Gentlemen Apocolypse premiere will be in Leicester Square on 1st June. Reece Shearsmith, Mark Gatiss, oh and a bloke called Simon might be there too.

This will possibly be the best one to pop down to. The barriers will be lined by PROPER fans. We must squeeze out the Carrier Bag Brigade*! Who's with me?!

* The CBB are an annoying group of smelly autograph hunters who carry their stuff in carrier bags and bulky rucksacks and get in the way of the real fans. And they stink!!

Thanks for that! Yeah, I'll try and get down there armed ready for some shots for the forum.

I know exactly what you mean by the CBB! I was stuck next to a couple of those when the HG premiere was going on. I would've moved but liked where I was standing. They go to every premiere going. The one I stood next to was complaining cos she didn't get an autograph from Bill Nighy, but then went on to say that she'd got his 3 times before anyway. Whatever floats your boat I guess?!
Wife Of Rolex
That's them! Have everyone's autograph 10 times over and moan when they don't get the 11th. Always complaining and getting in the way. I can't stand them! I don't go down to these things often but I was at the TV Quick Awards last year just to say hello and give a present to a particular someone (I'm not a stalker...honest!) and I was the first there. It was a nice friendly atmosphere with the paparazzi, cos it was only small, then as soon as the CBB arrived it was 'Oh the police won't like the barriers like this. The press always in the way.' Moan moan moan. They were trying to get infront of me but I perposefully held my ground. Whenever one got close I shifted in his way! Sticking my elbows out!

Luckily the person - Bruno Langley, incase you're wondering - turned up early and I got my present to him. He smiled, said 'Awww, thank you very much,' and went in. After that the CBB swamped in and got in everyone's way. One guy had the cheek, when someone didn't sign an autograph for him, to whinge, 'See, these stars don't want to know. They're selfish.' So me and a pap at the exact same time went, 'You're still here though, ain't you?'. He went all quiet after that! A pap even offered me a job that night, but I'm not that mad on celebrity to trapse around London at 3 in morning looking for shots!

However, the LOG Premiere will be fantastic. Actual proper fans should be lining the barriers. If you see a member if the CBB...slowly manouvre them away and get infront of them. Get there early. They have a knack of turning up just in time for the barriers being put up and getting good spots. We must win against this evil foe. Well...not exactly evil but really quite annoying.

I really want to go to the premiere, it looks fantastic. It'll be even better if Simon turns up!

This is a shameless advertising, but I've literally just started up a LOG messageboard and it really does need a good kick start so if any of you feel like joining that'd be excellent: The League of Gentlemen

Oh, and they've also started repeating series 1 every Tuesday at 10pm smile.gif

I really, really, really wish they allow us folks over here to see this film. But they're only just now releasing Region 1 DVDs of Series 2-3 (and the Christmas special), in June, which makes me think that either, A: If it's taken them that long to bring those over here, there's probably not enough interest; and B: Mayhaps they're releasing the DVDs in anticipation of bringing the film over here.

Whatever it takes, though, I will see this film, someday...
Kick in the Head
Went to the recording of Jonathan Ross last night (he's far funnier in person, off the cuff and off the camera, not interviewing or reading the lame gags scripted for him). Plus the set is tiny in real life; on TV it looks really long, but his desk is minute.

The League were amusing, though some of their best jokes slipped under the radar as Ross moved the intereview on. They had to do a bit of explaining who they were as its not a show everyone's familiar with, but the movie sounded good, they showed the trailer, Jeremy Dyson had the piss taken out of him for being idle, and Mark Gatiss' anecdote about his time on Rolf's Cartoon Club went down well.

Plus its worth tuning in for David Hasselhoff, who was very funny and charming (and laughed hardest with the clip they showed from Baywatch), and Kelly Osbourne was almost reduced to tears when Ross argued that she had been airbrushed on the cover of her new single - her protests that her skinny physique on the cover was due to a corset and a wig fell on deaf ears...though they might cut some of that stuff out to make Ross look less like a bully.
fear_of_pop
Ooh! Nice one. How exciting.
Jeremy wasn't there though, right?

Yeah, Jeremy was there. All 4 of them sat on the sofa with Reece closest to Ross, then Mark, Steve and Jeremy on the end (as Ross mentioned how Reece was the most normal looking member of the group and how he could be a lead in a rom com, they joked how they had been arranged on the sofa in order of grotesqueness from right to left).
fear_of_pop
Hurray!
You lucky thing, seeing all 4 at once.

But not too much, because I got my tickets for their pantomime-esque tour today. Hopefully there will be a pantomime dame and two men in a horse.
Or I'm getting my money back.

I'm going to the Frightfest screening with all of the Gents there on the 28th. I cannot wait cos i have heard nothing but good things from various people i know who have seen the film at press screenings and elsewhere.

And the thisisalocalshop forum is okay but the set up is a bit rubbish (not way to see new posts and no BBCode) and as there are no mods, it is prone to SPAM.

Even so - much to look forward too. I've had my fill of spoilers so i'm not reading any more press till afterwards.

I presume it's got loads of cool stuff on there but it won't let me register. Anyone tell me what's on there? Any behind the scenes stuff with the Gents? Any Simon? Any Bruno Langley? Anything? huh.gif
