Man im new to this thing and i cant be arsed to set up a poll so just post which is your favorite and if you can be botherd, why!
Mine has to be Evil Dead 2 though thats probably because it was the first one i saw, it just had that little something extra on the other 2.Allthough granted it is hard to compare the first 2 to number 3!
I hope this is making sence...

I thought the first evil dead was the best as it had that gritty feel to it, the second one had more of a hollywood gloss and it kinda lost some of its charm.

I think that II is very funny and tells a good story, but for some reason I've always liked the first one more. May be it's the just the cheapness. III was very enjoyable too though, especially the one-liners from Mr. Campbell.

II, definately II. Very funny and love unpicking all the camera work. It feels like Rami was able to achieve some of his goals restricted by money problems in the first and could number 3 really stand on its own without the first two?

Number one...it was low budget but made great by the way it was directed and edited. Part 3 was unadulterated shite.

I'd always go with 2 as its just one of the most purely entertaining films ever made. I love 1 and 3 for their own reasons, but if I were to suggest any of the films to someone who hadn't seen any of them, I'd suggest they see Evil Dead 2 - its pure, distilled Raimi in his truest form, and Bruce Campbell is THE MAN!

What Kick in the head said.
I watched 1 years ago, it was good but just another low budget straight Zombie flick, not all that inspired (I may have missed something though haven't seen it since it was origanlly released here in the UK) Evil Dead 2 was just hilariousvery clever and very quoteable. Mind you I'm not really a sttraight horror/slasher/zombie fan always prefering movie like Evil Dead 2 and Return of the Living dead.

ooh the first one its gotta be the first one. just cuz the dialogue is great and its as it should be. number 2 is pretty good though considering second films are typically bad. never seen the third one does this make me a bad person?

Yes..... Bruce Campbell is the MAN. I love the evil dead, the second is a better film although the way the first was made and on such a shoe string budget is an amazing feit, get hold of, if anybody has'nt already Bruce's autobiography he gives the low down on how it all started and how it got made. The third film is just so funny one of my alltime fave comedy films the one liners are top draw "gimmie some sugar baby" I mean who say's that??

"Hollywood gloss"?
You must be insane....the film was made for about $20. And it is far superior to the original...........

I'll always have a soft spot for Evil Dead just because it was the first one I saw. I also think that despite the odd cheesy line and/or budget-related concession, it's a genuinely atmospheric and frightening horror film. Obviously the two sequels were aiming for something completely different, and are great in their own right, but it's gotta be the first one for me. (But when you're talking about a guy replacing his hand with a chainsaw - boy is it close.)

Never really got into number one (god knows I tried) as much as two and three.
Classic line though:
"You found me beautifull once"
"Honey, you got reeaal ugly"
Still waiting for the day some enterprising fool gels the three film together at the points were they join together.

I'd say number 2 is the best...number 1 was too chaotic, and no. 3 is just a different thing altogether...plus HOW COOL IS IT TO HAVE A CHAINSAW FOR A HAND????

I'd go with Evil Dead 2...but the arguement is slightly redundant anyway. Evil Dead 2 is basically a remake of the first film, which was banned, with a few extra pieces.
Army of Darkness is mighty fine too, especially the "Klaatu Verata Knickthmhmm", bits complete with three stooges fight scene's.
I do love all three though....."Yo She-bitch, ...Let's Go"

The long scream over the ripped up bridge.
The chase through the woods, into the house, into the walls, round the corner and back again.
The girlfriend on the hand scene.
"We just cut up our girlfriend with a chainsaw. Does that sound fine?!"
The hand.
"Who's laughing now?! Who's laughing now?!"
Trees thump the cabin's roof.
"Let's head down into that cellar and carve ourselves a witch."
The chainsaw.
"Groovy."
Gotta be 2. Gotta be.
