Astrid
Hello there people.
There are a few of us from the League forum on board here so I thought I would start a little thread for our beloved League.
Any fans out there.

And I thought I would tag in Little Britain as well.

So who are fans and who are not.

" dont worry we're not going to get you. "
Serafina_Pekkala
hello - yes, moth to a flame i am with such topics ... although not really that bothered on LB.

It is appropriate for the SPACED board especially considering the guest appearance in the movie ...

I know!!!
So excited ( almost peed a little.......kidding )
Surprised there weren't more threads on other shows.

I like LB but I feel some of the characters are erm 'borrowed' shall we say from other shows including the League but it's still funny biggrin.gif

I don't think a lot of LB is like LoG ... just i prefer LoG. I do think Vicky pollard is comedy genius and i *love* Matt lucas ... nuff said on that for me i think.

And as for the cameo - i am so surprised someone from SPACED hasn't said so ... do they know???

Sefi x
Astrid
I dont know.
We could just say it but I dont want any of the Leaguers t see it as some of them don't want to know any thing about the film so it's all a surprise.

Could maybe put it in the cast watch section.

Love Vicky Pollard but I do think the( cant remember name now ) weight watchers woman is just basically Pauline.
Nasty woman who belittles the people she is supposed to help and doesn't do her job properly. Then gets her books from her supervisors at the end of the series.
MMmmmmm that reminds me of Ross * has naughty thought * hee hee hee
Serafina_Pekkala
Margery Dawes i think you mean ... i can see some similarity to Pauline in they are both mean middle aged larger ladies who are some position of authority ...

As for the RV spoiler - yeah, we best keep quiet. Not fair really to say.

Sefi x
J.R
Why not do the obligatory.

I adore the LOG but i'm tired of Little Britain. Series two far far too much "More of the same with a few puke gags thrown in" for me to really care enough about it to actually switch on the tv anymore

According to the LB commentary, the characters of Anne & her doctor were created, or co-created by Reese from LOG in a brainstorming session several years ago.

I know =*sits in wheel chair and stares blankly* =

Yeah they did improvisation Steve & Reece and came up with Anne ... and MArk was the script editor for first series of LB.

I still prefer LoG & SPACED to LB. But thats just me ...

Oh yes League and Spaced way up there!
I like LB and green Wing etc but never as good in my opinion which means bugger all really!!! laugh.gif

Oh, that's very interesting. I suppose it's to be expected that LB and LOG are pretty similar, given that that whole comedy bunch are pretty incestuous. Which, of course, is not to suggest that they're nicking eachother's ideas, but they're clearly influenced by eachother.

LB's more enjoyable in the repeating than the watching, I think. Anne going "EEHHHH EHH!" on screen isn't half so funny as me doing it to my boyfriend when he's least expecting it.
Jollyjaffaman
I'm a massive LOG fan. The live shows a few years ago were so cool. Especially the answerphone gags in between set pieces.

I still like Little Britain, there is some great stuff in the new series, but some stuff I just don't find funny. I have to say when I went to the radio series of LB I did think it was similar to LOG and one episode had Stave and Reece in the audience and I remeber thinking that it must be embarrassing to hear similar stuff. Must be equally strange now LB are so big, but it IS a different platform, it's not a continuous story like LOG and they havn't screwed it up by doing a rubbish 3rd series yet tongue.gif
I've had my ups and downs with LOG so don't get me started... interested to see what they come up with for the film though, and looking at some behind the scenes pics it looks like they are using the old character make-ups at least. and incidentally I was very freaked to see that they are using the office above where I work to edit the film! Guy Richie's film's been edited up there recently and he pops along on his bike every now and then, I've seen Bendy come and go so I'm sure the Gents themselves will make an appearence at some point.. will keep my eyes peeled in between working!

I'm quite nervous about this film... I don't want it to be shit! Of course, it's likely to be great. But at the same time, it could just end up being a rehash of the TV series, just using all the same jokes wacko.gif

p.s. I'm pretty confident the film will be good, have some faith!

CRAPPY THIRD SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! mad.gif WHAT???????????

I do like Little Britain and I want to go and see there live show but it cant compare to the League ( in my opinion ) funny but just not in the 'league' pardon the pun.

happy.gif
fear_of_pop
They're really nothing like each other. (both good though)
Little Britain is just completely unconnected sketches. L of G has plot lines and character development etc.
I can't imagine that it takes as long to write a series of Liitle Britain as it does to write L of G.

I suppose they do both dress up as women a lot. That's about the biggest similarity. smile.gif
a1tiptop
Oh yes. The League must be pretty pissed off that Little Britain has ripped off all their jokes and yet still managed to break out of the "cult" niche and roar into BBC One/mainstream success and become a national sensation... wink.gif

Oddly, I think the Royston Vasey film is shaping up well, it's caught my interest. The behind the scenes photos look great, and I'm fairly happy they seem to have...

SPOILERS

... wiped all the Series 3 developements and reverted to Series 2 characters - Pauline's old haircut, bringing back Hillary etc.

Oh and hello to Sefi, Linzi and etc. I don't post here much any more but someone told me you were having an interesting discussion.

As for the Anserphone man in the Live show... Ach, you're making me want to go back and listen to On the Town now.

PS - it's a misconception that Reece "invented" Anne. The cinecam footage was shown at the recent NFT Little Britian event and It was David who was clowning around with a nighty over his clothes doing eh-eh-eh. Reece just named her. In fact, it was rather like Reece/Mark in the UK Play links where Mark is locked in a dungeon and Reece says "Back Anne! Back..." (for those with long memories...)
Astrid
Like I said before it's really just the Weight watchers woman ( christ I keep forgetting her name ) that I think is just relaly Pauline in another sitation.

And yes they both do tend to dress up as women a lot laugh.gif

But yes I'm sure the Gents hate LB. And that they really are only friends with them to eventually secretly do away with them and steall all their money! hee he hee hee

I sat down to watch BBC 3 run the second series of Little Britain last night. Unfortunately after 2 episodes my bloke suggested we turn it off as "we'd seen all the jokes" and I had to agree.

I'm disappointed in the second series and hope that Lucas and Walliams take the decision to quit while they're still ahead and move on to something new. I think a third series would do them a diservice.
a1tiptop
Sefi - Email me and I'll see what I can do. I can probably turn my UK Play links into a DVD for you or summit or nuffink.

Ah yes, the Radio Times cover. I did get rather emotional myself when I saw that. biggrin.gif

Tigerlily - for shame - Matt and Dave already have a third series and are getting on quite well with writing it. And sorry but some of the old characters are back..! wink.gif

Unfortunatly not! Although my frankness is a touch in jest. Seriously I was really disappointed with it for many reasons (I won't bore you with as I've been going on about it since it aired) Some of it has grown on me since, but being a massive fan as I was at the time (I even went to see some of it filmed) I don't even own the DVD now sad.gif I remain optomistic though!

(and I have just passed a certain Pemby in the corridor.. wink.gif

They are editing the film in the studio above where I work, same entrance. Funny cause I use to live literally round the corner from Steve and Reece for 2 and a half years and only saw them a handful of times out and about, now I get a new job and they move here too!! Strange how things work...
fear_of_pop
bloody hell, love. Walking past a pemby requires much more detail-sharing and boasting. let it all out, we're very willing listeners....

I hope the League tour again as well.
stagedoor jenny
OOo not much to tell really! We've moved now but we just use to bump into them every now and then wandering around. Funniest time wasn't even me who witnessed it, my housemate at the time spotted Reece and his wife skipping along the road!! Hehehe I spotted Reece jogging twice... probably walked past them more times but sometimes when you ome backfrom work you are not looking around so you don't always notice people anyway.

Anyway Pemby just came down the stairs as me and my workmate were having banter about how long I took my lunch break, he was in a hurry shoving something into his bag and Andy opened the door for him, he said thanks and scuttled off! That's it really.. we nearly got ram-raided over the weekend so there is a massive hole in the window. The police suggested we go up and tell the other offices and I nearly volunteered but the police went up there in the end biggrin.gif
