*performs thread necromancy*So I've been MIA for a while on these forums, but I'm back now and I suppose it's time I weighed in briefly with my opinions on the movie. I saw it last Thursday in the second round of US screenings (yes I saw it in yankland - Portland, Oregon to be precise), and it was followed by a brief but informative Q&A session with Chris Buchanan (the executive producer of the movie). Apparently Alan Tudyk was supposed to be there too but he has recently been cast in Spamalot in New York so he had to cancel.
Well, what can I say other than WHOA! What a movie! It was hilariously funny in some places (I think everyone got some great one-liners), heartbreaking in some more, and edge-of-your-seat action-packed too (don't forget to breathe during the final 20 minutes or so). I don't want to go off into spoiler territory, but as you can tell from the trailer the story focuses a lot on River, and what she knows, and the way it's done ties in certain elements of the Firefly universe in very clever ways.
As a huge Firefly fan, I seriously loved this movie. From what I've been hearing from other non-Firefly fans who have seen it also, they loved it too, although they had some problems with getting to grips with all the characters. Which brings me to my only gripe with the BDM - because it's such a large ensemble cast, and the movie is a finite time, some characters (mainly Book, Kaylee, Inara and Wash) were relegated into the background a little (they still had their moments though

). I understand the reason for it, and really it's just me wanting more screentime for everyone.
My time here is short, so I'll finish up now and hopefully post more later (or when I get home). All in all, great movie, Firefly fan or not you'll love it. I would suggest you don't read spoilers beforehand (I did and wish I hadn't) because there's lots of things that will just be better and more surprising if you don't know them first.
