I agree she was tasty.

I always get the impression though, that so desperate to be famous is she,  she'd be up for anything, if you could advance her career.

Thanks for the advice. wink.gif

Nathan Fillion on being Mal

Raven
For anyone in the UK who doesn't own the DVDs - shame on you - and who has Sky, Firefly is being re-shown on the Sci-Fi channel over Christmas (I'm not sure on the dates, I just saw it listed when I was flicking through the Crimbo Radio Times last night).

I heart him.

He's the kind of guy you could see having a beer with. He's an actor, but like, a normal guy, too.
gulfcoast_highwayman
He's the kind of guy I'd go gay for.

If you're going to sample something from the other plate, it might as well be something tasty.

And you're lucky, he looks good naked. (ep "Trash.")

Totally. My friend actually did have a beer with him and Alan Tudyk one night. Damn her.

Blu-ray Firefly Set In Works.

I wonder what extra material it will include?
Drifter
Well, commentaries by the looks of it, which wouldve made the dvd box set that much better with more of the cast doing them. Maybe they'll include Serenity in with the set too, maybe the extra bloopers that Ive seen (about 45 mins worth) but werent available on the dvd set...maybe they could add convention footage which would be nice.
Raven
I doubt Serenity will be included, it was made by Universal whereas Firefly was Fox.

It would be nice to see some talking head type documentaries and to have some more commentaries though.

Id like to hear more Nathan Fillon and Alan Tudyk, they were funny
widowspider
More commentaries would be ace, I was always sad that loads of episodes didn't have any commentaries on them.
Omniscia
I just watched first part of "Serenity" (the episodes) on Universal HD the other day, and it was amazing how crisp the transfer was. I'd never realised, watching the standard DVD, that there was a thin red detonation wire in that combustive gel they used to open the airlock of the abandoned ship, but in the high-definition version, that wire was as clear as day.
Serafina_Pekkala
I've not heard it but apparently one Serenity re-release disc (which may not be out) has a cast commentary on it. Although, apparently it's just Nathan, Joss and Adam joking around. Others are in it but they don't get much input - saying that, Ron and Summer strike me as quiet anyway.

Maybe this will be included on the new disc.

According to DVDCompare.net, the R1 2-disc "collector's edition" has a commentary with Whedon, Fillion, Baldwin, Glass, and Glau. I suppose I could find where I've stashed that one and verify it, but I trust DVDCompare.

You can see that clearly on the standard DVD release as well.
Julie
I'm pretty sure my Collector's Edition is the one with said commentary. It's pretty funny.

I guess it's just more eye-poppingly apparent.
Raven
Or PAL is better than NTSC!
Omniscia
That may be the difference, then, as the HD formats eschew such considerations and are essentially identical in all territories.

I'll have to watch the episode again to be sure, of course.

And at least NTSC plays back the audio at the proper speed.

That'll be the one. I wish I could afford to hear it.

I think I need to buy Firefly again - my copy has been on loan for what seems like half a year. Wait, it has been half a year! More than. Grrr.

Winner of The S-O Ultimate Sci-Fi & Fantasy TV Series Poll, there must be a few of you yet to see this show, and who are at least a little bit curious. Why not visit www.hmv.com and do yourself a favour - it's currently going for £9.99! And if, like me, you have a surplus of unused Monopoly promo money-off tokens from McDonalds (due to expire any day now), even cheaper.

Ade says: "Did you say eight pound? That's a bargain, I'll take one."
maian
Don't think this has been posted anywhere. There's a little online comic here:

Serenity: The Other Half

It's pretty good, if short, and really only serves as a lead into the forthcoming Serenity: A Shepherd's Tale, which will detail some of Book's backstory, but it pretty good all the same.

Apparently Yahoo Movie fans put Serenity as their 30th favourite sci-fi film of all time, tragically Bladerunner never got a look in - Ironman was number one! Incredulous if you ask me!

TOP 30 SCI-FI FILMS
Hobbes
Iron Man knows what it is and has Robert Downey Jr. It was like entertainment concentrate going straight to my head. Wicked.

However, that's a terrible list of movies. X-Men 2 is one of the best comic book movies yet made, and it got beaten by a Star Wars prequel? I loved Transformers, but it's not better than The Empire Strikes Back, which is arguably the best film of all time.

Yahoo! user are evidently fools.

ABC greenlights "Castle," starring Nathan Fillion.

Sounds promising. And if anything, they have a better track record than Fox for keeping a series starring Cappy on the air... "Two Guys, A Girl and A Pizza Place" ran for 53 episodes. laugh.gif

Recently we-watched Firefly. 'Tis the awesome.

Hi all I'm a big Serenity and Firefly fan. Great to see a thread here on Spaced Out created for this. Any news on the PC game? An update would be appreciated.

PS: Thanks for the link Logger!

Cant see it (Firefly game) as happening anytime soon, I think Fox are favouring a Buffy MMOG rather than a Firefly one.
Raven
Firefly MMO news.

I can't really see something like a Buffy MMO working well in the long term becuase it doesn't have enough depth to it.

I think you're right on this one drifter. Buffy has a much wider fan base for starters. It's a great show but my heart forever lies 'in the black'.

I think its a case of quantity rather than quality. Buffy was a much bigger fanbase and did very well whereas Firefly really wasnt given much of a chance to grow and develop. In hindsight, Firefly would be the better MMOG because there so much more you could do with it. With Buffy it would be, Vampires and Stakes at dawn, throw in some zombies, one big bad boss, a couple of witches and thats your lot.
