I think they're talking about the US release, though I don't think we'd be too far behind.
At least I hope not.
Edit: So that it actually made sense

I thought it was only out in America in December but MrStella insists it's out here then too. Looks like it's one-nil to me on that front.

Hopefully I will have watched Firefly in time for the Serenity DVD release. If only the boxset would arrive, I'm hoping it will tomorrow but also I realise that I have seven essays to write next week and it's really gonna fuck up my schedule if I do get it.

I know stuff is coming out on DVD ever more quickly these days (Sin City seemed to hit the shelves within a week of it being in the cinema for example) but 2-3 months after release still seems a little too quick.
I won't be complaining if it is out sooner rather than later though!

Its well worth seeing at the cinema Dave (as are most things!). I'd recommend travelling further afield if it leaves your local - or horror of horrors - go on your own!

I actually quite enjoy going to the cinema alone. Unless it's something emotional, which confounds my loneliness and makes me depressed. Or it's a comedy, which is never as fun as laughing with someone at. Or a scary film, which makes me even more scared. But action and sci-fi are okay

I got my DVDs and so far, so very very good. It's like some of the things i liked about Aliens, Deadwood and DS9 have clubbed together to make a super-improved show. My new favourite show. Why those assclowns at Fox cancelled it is an utter mystery! And why i didn't see it sooner is also an equally baffling question. Was i living under a rock?
And Ingram - i dunno whether i lprefer Mal to Sawyer. You pick some great avys.

And i have been to the cinema on my own. When travelling and you need a place to wait indoors for several hours before leaving etc, the cinema is the perfect spot. Especially when it is sweltering humid weather outside.

It bothers me that I didn't see Firefly when it mattered (ie, when all the American fans were petitioning Fox like crazy not to cancel it). Who knows what might have happened if a UK channel had bought it and shown it here while the original American series was still being aired?

I'm sorry but i have to say - I FECKING LOVE FIREFLY - it's like all the things i love about Deadwood, Aliens and DS9 but funnier. And better.
I've been watching my FF DVDs for the first time and dammit Jayne Cobb doesn't have at least one big fat LOL moment in every episode. It's priceless. Take Shindig:
Jayne: Maybe Zoe should get nekkid?
Wash: No!
Jayne: Maybe I should get nekkid?
Wash: NO!!
Best of all is his quizzical little expression of hope on his face when he says the second line (like they may really go for it - any excuse ey!). He steals the beeping show! When Alan Tudyk lets him I mean. It made River's bad cockney accent all the more tolerable.

Except for major "event" films, and random crap that I wouldn't ever see on my own, but for some reason someone has seen fit to invite me to, I attend virtually every film I'm interested in alone.
Sometimes this is because no one wants to go with me. Other times, it's--well, okay, most of the time it's 'cos no one wants to go. Either they can't stand the film, or they'd rather just get hammered or something.
Which is just as well, because I hate people talking to me during a film, and I hate people getting up and leaving in the middle of a film, and then I have to get up and leave too, since they're so far gone they can barely stand under their own power, let alone walk...
"Guy" films I usually share with my father, though.
Anyway, trying to get back on topic, nobody went with me to see "Serenity." No one at all. And all of the other people in the cinema were in their mid-50s.

I went with two of my mates; one who was a fan and one who wasn't and we had a great time, though my mate who wasn't a fan did get slightly fed up when me and my other mate spent half and hour talking about the film in relation to the series, but we didn't get too carried away. It was fun seeing it with others, which is why I try to organise a trip to the cinema with them at least once a week.

Actually, she looks like Summer Glau. Which is still a problem, as she should look like the character, not the actress.

Come to think of it, the "reflection" makes it look like she has blue eyes. Oy.

Saw Serenity again today and I had a quite different response to some aspects of the film than the first time I saw it, some aspects I like more, some less.
Wash's death still hit me even though I knew it was coming, but it only really kicked in when Zoe says ''He's not coming'', the looks on their faces are quite affecting and they really got me.
I appreciated Summer Glau and Chiwitel Ejiofor's performances a lot more this time around, especially Ejiofor who is really unnerving throughout and really conveys the sense of someone doing something because they truly believe it is the right thing to do.
The way in which Book's role was portaryed irritated me much more than before since I realised how inconsequential he seems with regards to the rest of the film, though his death scene is still quite well done.
The big ass space battle was even more enjoyable and astounding than before, River's dream sequences and babbling were much more enjoyable since I had prior knowledge about it, I especially liked the slightly unhinged music that got played whenever those scenes happened.
I enjoyed the film more than the first time, but the things that only slightly bothered be the first time were more pronounced, but the great things were really awesome.

Take the last episode of Firefly:
"He's no shepherd"
Confirming basically everything I had thought since the first episode where he decks the Alliance spy onboard Serenity.
Needless to say I am rather disappointed there was no resolution to that, however I don't know whether or not I would have been satisfied with the explanation given. I have my own theories.

One of the GREATEST movies that I have ever seen. I walked out of that saying to myself… "OI… GEORGE!!!! WATCH AND LEARN!!!"

He was definitely more than a shepherd but I don't think we know anywhere near enough about the Firefly universe to even guess at what he might be.
