Every time I go in to my local video rental store, all copies have been rented. That's a good sign.
Of course, there are only about 5 in the entire store. That's half of what Diary of a Mad Black Woman gets, and about 10% of The Dukes of Hazzard.

There's also a long wait on Netflix for it. (As opposed to a "very long wait" for Black Christmas, which they just got in stock - pffft!)
I'm amazing myself, this kind of restraint.

So glad you converted S and S. But then i'm sure you explained my personal fascination with the Cobb-man to them too. Wonder what they make of it all.
"Sefi's kerrrrazeeee!" mostly likely.
And i too will join in the fist-biting for the Aussie DVD. It's utter torture.

So I'm listening to
Wil Wheaton's podcast (episode zero), and he's telling quite a lovely story about running into Sean Maher at an audition. After first geeking out and slinking back to his chair to run lines, the Doc inquires about Wil's stepkids (who he had just revealed he introduced to
Firefly), so he goes into how introducing the boys to sci-fi was a big bonding point for them and
Firefly was the starting point, that for whatever reason it hit all the right notes and it brought them into a genre that they'd previously had no interest in, etc...
It's just awfully cute.

See, but he'd probably have a very eloquent answer to that question, or at least an eloquent way of explaining "I don't know." Read the book; he's quite at peace with Wesley, after many years of angggst.

Cut/Paste: "Serenity DVD - main screen. Highlight "play," then click the left arrow on your remote. That will highlight a little trapezium with a circle inside. Click play or enter. You'll get to see a brief "making of" about the oaty bar commercial.

I watched it last night. Wash's death still hurts like a bastard.
Watching some of the extras bought a tear to my eye, especially the one at the Comic-con. Unless DVD sales really go mental it really does look like this is the end of Firefly.

I'm going to a fancy dress party (theme is Cult TV) and i want o go as pilot episode Kaylee (as on this site):
http://www.costumersguide.com/maggie_costu...e_makingof.htmlif anyone knows of any costume tips and ideas (like where to buy a white parasol), i'd appreciate it as i haven't done anything yet.
If i can't go as Kaylee, i'm going as autopsy performing Scully.

You could go as Nadine in her pink prom dress (when she overdosed)....great costume and no one ever does Nadine, it's all Audrey and the Log Lady.
Look for the parasol at an Asian imports store, if there are any near you; I'd imagine between that and an army surplus store you'd find anything you'd ever need for a
Firefly costume. (Wise decision re: avoiding being pedantic....it's a costume, you're going to wear it once, maybe twice. Maybe I'm just lazy but I never bother with scrutinizing detail.)

I have green combats and a blue sun t-shirt (*coughswhatageekcoughs*) so if anything i could get a blue Chinese jacket, parasol, flip flops and put my hair in buns. Then smear some oil on my face and we are ready to go. I actually own a red dressing gown just like Inara's and several glamourous dressy things. So I could easily do her (fnar) if i was a taller Brazilian goddess with mocha skin and impeccable make-up. But alas and i'm short and blonde and more 'homely'. Kaylee it is - adds to my Firefly mood.
Our Astrid is gonna be Tess from Catterick BTW - we should make quite a pair.

The BDM photo is downright disturbing. My costume will be far superior than those bargain-basement Kaylees. At least i am same sex/built as Kaylee even though i'm blonde. The Wash and Jayne look kinda hideous - i wouldn't want to share a prison cell with either.

Now I don't want to get anyone's hopes up too much,
but:
QUOTE
Loni Peristere, visual-effects supervisor for the SF movie Serenity, told SCI FI Wire that there's hope for future flights of the cast and crew of the movie, which just came out on DVD. Director Joss Whedon—who also created the canceled Fox TV show Firefly, on which the movie is based—expected that the movie might draw the low numbers it did in its theatrical release, Peristere said in an interview. But he added that the movie's sales on DVD, which came out on Dec. 20, are running neck-and-neck with the hit comedy Wedding Crashers, which bodes well for a possible Serenity sequel...
Whedon and his crew are waiting to see how well the DVD numbers go before proceeding with a Serenity sequel, Peristere said. "We really hope to return to this work," he said. "We love the characters. It's fun storytelling, and we all love using our talents. ... It all depends on Joss. He's not giving up on the characters. He had incredible writers who had a million stories to tell, and we're all just hanging out and seeing what the world has to give us, and given the opportunity we'll make more."

Well, if video sales were able to secure, what, five sequels to Police Academy (I'll attribute the first sequel to the box-office performance of the initial film), then why not Serenity? Heck, Police Academy is even getting the remake trea... Wait a minute, this one has most of the original cast (including Guttenberg)..!

I'm not certain their Jayne is a fella either. Which is calling the sexes of the entire group into question.
Saw this posted somewhere else, it's apparently some sort of viral marketing campaign for the movie. Don't recall them being posted here, and I don't think they're included on the R1 DVD either, unless they're on there as an easter egg.
