Excellent Firefly parody. Keep watching until after the end credits as well.

The spoofing of the opening credits is the best bit - excellent stuff!

I did not see this posted, but I do tend to miss things. Serenity back on the big screen to benefit Whedon's favorite charity. Glad to see it will be playing here.

Sweet! We have one in Toronto, too! Scheduled.

None here, unfortunately. The closest is in Montreal.

An unconfirmed Leeds is the only one in the UK. Shameful.

Ah that one passed me by. I was quite puzzled that there was one for Leeds but not the capitol, explains why now.

If anyone's interested, I've edited the translations of the chinese used in the series and the movie (featured here) to a printable, six page version. Yeah, I was bored.

Also, for anyone that's interested, Sci-Fi Channel starts showing Firefly as of Thursday.

Morena Baccarin has joined the supporting cast of Stargate SG-1 for series ten; not going to give away too much but she is linked to the antagonists and her role is fairly minimal at the moment - although she is a pivotal character, for all intents and purposes.

So the 'SG' now stands for sexy goddess, then?

You want to occasionally talk to her in order to let the plot continue or have your character develop?

They've covered her wonderful neck!

If I were a vampire she'd be first on my bit-list.

Okay, so I'm guessing she's a member of the Ori and, secondly, what does it matter now? The show's been cancelled . . . huh.gif

She is their messiah... sort of of. "Orisi", basically a leader conceived by Vala (Claudia Black) via the Ori in order to lead their armies against 'our' galaxy.

Oh, and, *cries*. Cancelled, nooo!

Jessopjessopjessop
Cancelled after 10 series? No!!!

They've had an amazing, unprecedented run that even Dave can't argue with finishing!

But if they have Inara as some weirdy semi-clad alien, they can have some of my viewing figures.

Haaaang on a cotton-picking second. Are you telling me there's a scifi show that has Aeryn Sun AND Inara in it? Together? In one huge, silky blackhaired fest of loveliness?

Where do I sign?

Nope. Watching the 200th episode a few weeks ago was really excellent, just knowing a show you have invested your time in, in bothering to watch and staying a fan for ten years, has reached those sort of numbers. 10 good series with very few bumps (in my hardly objective opinion) is marvellous.

Have you really been watching it that long? You were only wee when it started!
Ingram
I can't remember when the first run on channel four started but I do remember watching the first series quite vividly; channel four was obviously behind sky channels and the US, so it might be closer to 8 or 9 years, but it's been a long time.
Omniscia
I never started. I loved the film, but none of the television stations available in this area carried the series until a couple of seasons had gone by. The same thing happened with Star Trek: Voyager, but that was crap to begin with.

Weird, Canada actually gets the first run of SG-1 and Atlantis now. 'Sci-fi' in America has a huge hiatus at mid-season and so the Canadian network ends up getting the exclusive rights to the second half of the series.

Best screencaps and just nicely set up:

There is a lot of variation in terms of fansites but that one is just nice. Whedonesque may have some other links too.

Which is the site where they discuss what it means to be a Browncoat? I mean I have ultimate respect for those guys, getting the movie to be made and all....But they still kinda scare me.
Omniscia
It isn't a true sci-fi mainstay unless it has its share of scary fans. All the good shows have their rabid partisans.

Ummm, did anyone here know that THIS had been released on the 25th August?

And that THIS is scheduled for release on 23rd March 2007?

I would assume Ellie of all people would have been aware... smile.gif

Indeed. And the fact that it's my job to publicise the next one is why I want to know the fansites.

I will of course put any decent leaks in here.

Those looking for more background on the firefly universe, on artwork, spaceship designs, history of the 'verse and of the planets and technology won't find any of that here. What you do get is about 5 pages of original material (mostly costume concept art), and the rest of the book is filler, specifically, its 6 scripts from the TV series, reprinted in double space text, in full (including both parts of the 'Serenity' pilot episode).

Not at all recommended unless you want to act out your own version of the episodes.

That put me off it a bit...
m0r1arty
I've only just watched it.

It rocks!

Not seen any of the TV shows yet but I'll be making a point of doing so.

£5 on DVD not bad eh?

Nathan Fillion Signs Deal with Fox
Source: The Hollywood Reporter
October 17, 2006

Nathan Fillion (Serenity, "Firefly") has signed a talent holding deal with Fox Broadcasting Co. and 20th Century Fox TV, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Under the pact, the studio and the network will develop a comedy or drama script for the actor. If it doesn't go to pilot, Fox and 20th TV would cast him in an existing project.

Fillion, who most recently appeared in the feature Slither, next stars in White Noise: The Light.

You think? I'm always wary of people being trapped into contracts like that, in case they can't come up with something decent and end up shoehorning him into something shitty.

Well, of course there's that possibility. And it's Fox, so the deck is stacked against the chance of them doing something smart. But I'd rather have Fillion on my TV in something shitty than another hour of "Skating With Celebrities." And there's the other possibility that someone will see it and say "Hey, this guy's a fucking star - why are they wasting him in something so shitty?!" and really do something about it.
