What are ya'lls all time favorite zombie/demon/undead films.
Of course, Shaun of the Dead is up there on my all-time favorites. We all know its an instant classic. But what are some of your other favorites. Post your favorite hilarious lines from zombie flicks here too!

Besides SOTD, I love Evil Dead I,II and Army of Darkness and Dead Alive. Those are my top three.

I'm currently watching Dead Alive and rolling with laughter. Favorite line in Dead Alive: "I kick @$$ for the Lord!"

Is Dead Alive a new title for Peter Jackson's 'Brain Dead'? Otherwise, that's a spooky ass similarity in the dialogue. DOes the same film have the classic exchange:

Girl: 'Your mother ate my dog!'

Boy: (Holds up tail) 'Not all of it!'
Justincredible
YEAAAHH... that's the same movie! Is it called Brain Dead? In the US its called Dead Alive! Weird. Didn't know that, I just added a wrinkle to my brain. Haha, well Brain Dead/Dead Alive is freakin hilarious.

Good stuff. Have you, I wonder, also seen Bad Taste - Jackson's first film? Although maybe it's called 'Tasty Flesh' or something over there. It has equal amounts of joy and stomach turning grossness.

i saw an australian gore film.. with zombies.. was it this Peter Jackson one?

there was a scene with a lawnmower.. and a ring of zombies..
it was something to do with a party.. and then near the end of the film this guys mum grew into a giant weird thing and sucked the house inside her stomach.. so he had to chainsaw his way out..

huh.gif

That's Brain Dead. Or Dead Alive. It's ace. I sometimes amuse myself with the thought that some mother might pick it up for her Lord of the Rings loving ten year old in HMV one day.

I know this is slightly off topic but does anyone remember a film called 'The Jinn'
could be a diffrent spelling, djinn ginn etc, or might not even be called that!
I remember watching it a few years back, big guy possibly red got trapped in a precious stone or something? And yes if i remember correctly it was a bad film, but i seem to think i liked it.

Ok i realize that that is the plot for 99% of horror films made since 1970 but if anyone does know what it's called i would be grateful.

I think there was also a couple of sequels?
Justincredible
i think that movie called the Djinn was called Wishmaster here. And I have never heard of Bad Taste! I have to check it out!

**SPOILER ALERT**

i was really annoyed when i was watching the trivia track, because when shaun shoots his mum it comes up with 'other films involving matricide'. they mentioned jacksons Heavenly Creatures, but not the zombie matricide of Braindead. why? surely cutting your mama open with a big star pendant thing is matricide?
hullobrian
i dont watch too many films involving dead ppl.
If i do I tend to laugh through them aswell as in other horrors.
films i laughed thru:
Hanibal and its sequel or prequel
the ring
hellraiser i mean wtf
etc etc

there are a few i find creepy,

theres the obvious ones

and im sorry but i did find the remake of dawn of the dead creepy
and ppl r gonna swear and laugh but ..... jeepers creepers
theres just something about a poorly made film about a crow thing that uses other peoples body parts to live, with 2 crazy old woman, one with lots of cats wacko.gif and one psychic freaky one
the concept spooks me
lol
tameblue
I thought Casper the friendly ghost was a real arse twitcher !
Justincredible
yeah...i'm going to have to go ahead and disagreeeee with you on that one (haha, does anyone know what that line's from?)

Jeepers Creepers was not scary at all to me. But you said you laughed through the ring and i wanted to poo my pants. I love ghost movies (EXCEPT for casper) haha.

I noticed that too. We are such nerds for noticing that. I guess maybe because his mom was a full-blown raging zombie behemoth creature, and not really his mom anymore. Shaun's mom, while a zombie, still looked like his mom.

Incase some of you haven't gotten to see the excellent movie, Wild Zer, I took the liberty of writing down a couple great lines from the movie:
SPoiler!! sort of...
1. Guy finds out Tobio (I think that's her name) is a guy too, then runs away. While in a room guitar wulf shows up and says
"Ace! (That's the main character's name), Love has no boundaries, nationalites, or genders....DO IT!!!!!!!!!

And another on that Guitar Wulf says to Ace is:
2. "You want her, Ace, don't you? Go get her!!!! ROCK N' ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

...I can't find my other sheet, oh well, there ya go ^ I hope it makes you laugh, it's a ZOMROMROCK, I guess you would call it.

Any aspiring directors?? Great cheesy cinematography going on in this movie, they set up shots great...in a cheesey way.

If you want to be a thief PM me and I'll let you know where to get it online.

The Evil Dead trilogy kicks ass and the new dawn of the dead was pretty good.

I just looooove Brain Dead, the classic lines

I kick arse in the name of the Lord

The violence, the mother killing. All very important in your average zombie flick.

Zombie Flesh Eaters is also very cool

"Jor motherrr ate my dog!" Ah, Pequita. Que bonita.

Besides Brain Dead/Dead Alive, the usual suspects (Romero, Raimi...all the R's...), and Fulci....hmm? *tries to get obscure*

There's a delightfully nasty little American 80's number called Night of the Creeps that I always enjoy, even though the dialogue is sketchy at best and the acting, as well. Freaked me out as a kid, tho. Kind of a big mish-mash of Romero's films, Animal House and Cronenberg's Shivers - meteor from space crash-lands in the 50's and alien slugs slither out, crawling through people's mouths into their brains and turning them into zombies. Zombed-out killer is captured and frozen, then accidentally thawed on a college campus in the 80's where the slugs get loose on Fraternity Row and the fun begins.

Don't tell me it's a bad movie, I KNOW it's bad. But I quite like it. wink.gif

night of the living dead
dawn of the dead
evil dead 1 2 and 3
return of the living dead

white zombie
undead
zombi fulci

(In Order on my DVD shelf)

Ghostbusters (yeah, I know, not technically, but still, it's my all-time fave)
Evil Dead
Evil Dead II
Army of Darkness
Shaun of the Dead
Dawn of the Dead
(2004 edition)
The Toxic Avenger (again, not really, but still a gore film from Troma)
Citizen Toxie: Toxic Avenger IV
Terror Firmer
Freddy vs. Jason

And the most gruesome, terrifying film of all time...

Manos: The Hands of Fate! Not even the crew of the Satellite of Love on "Mystery Science Theater 3000" could save that one!

...Yeah, I know, most of these aren't "dead" flicks, but a lot of 'em are horror films.

Especially "Manos." Oh....god.....why?!!!

Aaaalright, I have a huge, I've been told irrational, fear of actual zombies so I generally avoid the genre altogether because I can never walk outside my house alone after watching them. In short, I'm not a zombie flick fan.

But that said, I adored Shaun of the Dead!! So, me brother showed me Resident Evil.

Ha! I have been informed by my friends that this is not supposed to be a good movie and liking it is somewhat un-cool, by I was utterly delighted by Resident Evil. I mean, slick action meets zombie gore-fest, meets conspiracy theory, meets kick-ass model chick? What's not to love, man?

By the way, I thought the sequel sucked ass.

So, for someone who doesn't like zombie movies, I'd say my tastes are starting to vear in that direction...perhaps because both flicks took the genre in a different direction?

Hey! I told you I was informed I wasn't supposed to like it...and I thought I was being rather clear that I most definately AM a zombie film 'tard (I aint afraid to say it).

As for Evil Dead or Dawn of the Dead...I was told that they WERE good zombie flicks which is precisely why I haven't seen them. if they's good, they'll be scarier, which means I won't get a decent night's sleep for a year or so. It's a health hazard.

But can we at least agree that SOTD redeems me somewhat from Zombie film 'tard-dome?

(Cripes, this hasn't been posted in for a long time...you still even here to read this?)

My favourite zombie flick is and forever will remain George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead. It was my first zombie film, and for that reason alone merits inclusion in my list, but moreover it's just so damn good. Truth be told, I've never really found any horror in it -- certainly, revulsion at times (Savini's gore effects are without peer) -- but it's got tension in spades. This is thanks not to the zombies, but to the human protagonists, struggling to survive and maintain their sanity in a world crumbling to pieces all around them.

Additionally, I quite enjoyed Night of the Living Dead, Shaun of the Dead (of course), Lucio Fulci's Zombie, Michele Soavi's Dellamorte Dellamore, Peter Jackson's Braindead/Dead Alive (so called since there was already a film called Braindead in the States), and Sam Raimi's Evil Dead series, especially Army of Darkness. I'm still rather undecided on Romero's Day of the Dead -- I liked Bub, sure, but I didn't care one whit about the rest of the characters.

Sure, I've seen a host of other zombie flicks over the years, but for me, the aforementioned constitute the greatest of the genre, the essentials. Here's hoping Land of the Dead lives up to its pedigree.

Speaking of zombies, does anyone else remember a little-seen comedy, from 1993, entitled My Boyfriend's Back? It's certainly not the greatest film in the world, and is rather mediocre, but it has its charms... Basic plot summary: Johnny harbours secret affections for Missy, and wants to ask her to the dance, but can't work up the nerve. Then, one night, the convenience store Missy works in is robbed, and Johnny, ever the hero, attempts to foil the robbery. Unfortunately for Johnny, he doesn't survive the encounter, but no matter: Such is the strength of his love for Missy that he returns from the grave to ask her to the dance. Fun, harmless little film.

It looks like no one has mentioned John Carpenter's 'The Thing' . ok not exactly dead people.. but plenty of people get infected by the alien and die.....
gotta love the intro sequence.. and cheesy 80s special effects biggrin.gif

hey, sorry i havent been on in a while. yes SOTD does redeem you a little, but resident evil? i hated that film from the word go. and as for the evil dead and dawn of the dead. NOT SCARY AT ALL. at least i didnt think they were, the evil dead was more of a comedy for me and the new dawn of the dead was just not scary, maybe a little jumpy. the thing that gave me the wiggins the most was the bit with the head in the drinks cooler? i mean jesus christ how the fuck did it get in there?

The Evil Dead trilogy rocks my world.
