Suprising to see Craig Cash so far up that list.
You'd think Simon and Nick would be a little higher after having made 'the funniest film of the year' as voted for in so many places.

Damn good question. I've definitely seen it done before but it's probably some heathen thing to do.
To the Oxford Reference Online!
EDIT: Seems it's called 'elision': In SPEECH and WRITING, the omission or slurring (eliding) of one or more vowels, consonants, or syllables, as in ol' man/old man, gonna/going to, wannabe/want to be, and the usual pronunciation of parliament (‘parlement’). Although in speech there is no direct indication of elision, in writing it is often marked by an APOSTROPHE: didn't/did not, I'd've/I would have. Elision is common in everyday speech and may be specially marked in verse to ensure that readers keep the metre, as in th'empire. Foreign students often have difficulty coming to terms with elisions created by the stress-timed RHYTHM of English, which may make word sequences seem nonsensical.
Doesn't say if it's correct though, but I'm going to assume it is.

how the hell does Ricky Gervais keep getting on things?!?! I can't be the only person who thought the office was stupidly overated? and I mean has he even done anything (other thn christmas specials) since then? Nice to see Stephen Fry up relatively high on the list!

Well, yes. He's written his new series and has started filming it. And he did a lot before the Office, y'know. I'm glad he's finally got recognition.

Yeah, but to be honest, his act wasn`t that dissimilar to what he ended up doing on The Office. And I really don`t think Extras will be an awful lot different than that either.
He`s a bit of one-trick pony, just like Lucas and Walliams, personally, I think they`re better when they do their own thing.

Well, he was touring with Politics which, from a critics point of view, is suppossed to be very good. He's also got that book and lots of other things in the works. I would think that that would constitute "power in comedy".

with the whole little britain repeating itself over and over i would have to agree it is pretty boring and dross waiting for someone to say something you know they are going to say!And occasionaly WHOAH, they said something else! But by that tiome they have said the same thing so many times you are even expecting the sudden change in routine! The first few watched were pretty funny but now i just watch if there is nothing better on, which is sometimes depresingly often!

Power, yes, but not popularity, especially from his peers. As far as I`m aware, he`s just about universally hated by those in comedy.
Not that I reckon he cares for a second, with all the money he has. Good luck to him, I say.

I liked them on SMTV. I liked it when they shouted abuse at the kids who were shit at Wonkey Donkey.
However, these days they are pretty tedious, and no more 'comedy' than Davina McCall or Richard Whitely, really.
Little Britain is getting right on my tits. Its got good bits but its not THAT hilarious.

It's interesting that Simon and Nick come as a pair. They're the new French and Saunders!!
What I mean is that it's interesting that Nick's included. I could see Simon on his own, but I couldn't see Nick on his own. No offence to the bloke, but he owes his position to Simon really doesn't he. Together they are stronger!

The reason some comics don't like Ricky is because he didn't work his way up through the clubs like they did. Don't blame them for being a little bit miffed, really. And then he's the one getting the golden globes, and he's not necessarily better than a lot of them, just luckier. (which he knows -- he's very nice really)

Right place, right time. That`s what it`s all about. Either that, or you be like Ant and Dec, bend over for ITV and let them screw you over by overexposing you.
Hang on, Jimmy Carr...Channel 4...presenting any old "100 Greatest" shyte....do I see a little similarity here?

I remember watching ricki gervais doing that chat show thing on channel 4 and couldn't help but hate him from then on. It just weren't funny and neither is the office.
I hated little britain, then liked it, now I hate it again. And once again the bbc have proved that whenever they move comedy from 2 to 1 it becomes shite.
