I don't think this spoils too much...seeing that its already on most of the promotional and preview write ups.

A normal Korean guy is abducted and imprisoned for 15 years in a room. He' s then released, and tries to found out who did it and why its happened!
Downsy
This film is nuts !!

Hold mouse over to read
The bit at the end when he finds out what happened and who the girl is, is totally off the wall. Complete 180 to what you would expect but then rounds the film off well with the angel wings scene
Kick in the Head
I thought it was absolutely amazing - favourite foreign-langauge film of last year. The corridor fight was stunning, and its certainly not for the squeamish, but it deserves to go beyond the Extreme Asia enthusiasts, and the Cannes Film Festival did that for it - nice one QT! biggrin.gif

It comes out on DVD on February 28th, and look at the extras! Originally Tartan were a little stingy (but I'm sure that was to do to difficulties getting hold of foreign material), but now:

Disc 1 Features

UK Exclusive Director Interview By Mark Salisbury
Director’s Commentary
Director And Cinematographer’s Commentary
Director & Cast Commentary
Commentary By Film Critic, Kim Yong Jin
Original Theatrical Trailer
UK Theatrical Trailer

Disc 2 Features

2 Making Of Documentaries
9 Deleted Scenes With Optional Commentary
Director Interview
Cast & Crew Interviews
Cannes Film Festival Gala Premiere Footage
Short Film: Memory of Old Boy

Not bad, eh? biggrin.gif

Oooh yay!

I'll be looking out for that one. I was gonna buy the import one with the cool box cover.
But this has loads of extras. Thanks for the tip smile.gif

It's definately worth seeing and totally not what you would expect. Think of the worst thing that could happen to you and you arent even close to what happens in this film. Fantastic.

That film is rock'n'roll! I love it.
Chan Wook Park (or Park Chan Wook or whatever) is a great director. His "Joint Security Area" is somewhat of a masterpiece.

JSA is an absolute classic. Gotta say in recent years the Korea has been giving Japan & Hong Kong a run for their money for making the best/most interesting films out there
Sostie
Oh well, it was bound to happen. The Hollywood remake is on its way starring Nicolas Cage!
