This probably one for the home cinema geeks, or movie buffs.

For the Audio part of my degree I'm doing a mini-disseration and presentation on Dolby Pro-Logic and how it works.

For my presentation I want to include a movie clip that really demonstrates pro-logic effectively.

So can anyone think of any good scenes from movies with impressive dolby pro-logic surround tracks (I may be able to mixdown a dolby digital track, although I'd much prefer something intended for pro-logic)?

The two Star Wars prequels. They have great sound throughout.
-edit-
hang on, dolby digital is different from pro logic? forget it, I'm out of my depth here. Most of my Gamecube games have a Pro Logic logo on the back though, if that's any use to you. Maybe that's a better way to go?

Dolby Pro-Logic was the surround sound developed for cinemas at the end of the 70's, was introduced to some home a few years later. It has 2 or 3 fromt speakers and 2 rear speakers (these both play the same sounds). A lot of broadcast TV programmes are in Pro-Logic, eg The Simpsons, Stars in their eyes etc.

Dolby Digital was introduced around the start of the 90s and is often know as 5.1, It has 3 front, and 2 rear speakers with 100% seperation. It also has a subwoofer for bass effects. Almost all new movies are mastered in Dolby Digital, Most surround sound DVDs are in Dolby Digital.

The original starwars movies were in Dolby Pro-Logic, as this was the best available in the majority of cinemas at the time. However the DVDs have been remixed into Dolby Digital for a 'better' sound

Episode 1 is a bit of a freak as it introduced a special version of Dolby Digital called Dolby Digital EX, which had an extra rear speaker for a 'wider surround image' - George Lucas being awkward again!

I think the original Star Wars movies might be good as they have some nice bits with ships flying around, but I've not really had any other ideas.

If I understand you correctly then the American beuty soundtrack would be cool

Possibly, although I read something when the DVD's came out that Lucasfilm has flipped the rear channels on the Dolby version to give greater depth to the recording (this has understandably pissed off a lot of people who know how the sound should sound and can spot the difference!). Apparently this is common practice on older films but is something that most sound engineers frown on . . .

I'm only re-telling what I've heard though so don't shoot me if I'm wrong!

Something I can remember being impressed with the sound on recently (past the original Star Wars films) is the two Spider-man films - they seem to have plenty of zip past the ears moments!
