It's an open secret on gossip boards like Popbitch and Holy Moly, though I've got no idea if it's really true. I feel sorry for him if he is actually gay and thinks he has to hide it to the extent of having a fake girlfriend. Is our culture still so homophobic that we can't accept a gay leading man?

I don`t think it`s homophobia as such, more a case of women (and men, in the case of lesbian leading ladies) not wanting to watch someone they can`t fantasise about.
And it`s not as if there`ve been precedents, in movies, pop, what have you.

There certainly are precedents - Will Young, Ian McKellan (granted, he's not strictly a leading man) erm... and err... Well, you get the picture.

it doesn't matter what sexuality they are to be a decent actor though, media seems to take it out of all proportion

Ahh, but the point is, can you see Ian Mckellan being seen by women the way George Clooney or Brad Pitt is? Same with Will Young, he`s "respected" but not in the same league as say, Robbie Williams, who is told to be overtly sexual.
I`m not saying it`s right, I`m just saying that`s how it is. If you`re gay and in the media, you`re either told to tone it down, or play it up and be as camp as a row of rainbow coloured tents.

of course it doesn't but that's not the point and it's nothing to do with the media although they don't help, we still live in a homophobic society whatever anyone says that's just the way it is

I'll fancy anyone, gay or straight, given half the chance. But I realise I'm not representative of the population.

Meh, I`ll fancy no one I know for sure I`l never have a chance with.
In other words, I don`t fancy many people.

So . . . Superman, I hear there's a film being made . . .
Hmmm, yes so two pages of whether or not an actor who's not in this film is gay or not.
Not that it would matter (I still fancy lovely Wilbur Young) but I do know several people who went to school with him including a girl who was seeing him just before he went to New Zealand to make 'some film'.
That's not to say he hasn't switched teams since then of course.
Now back to 'Superman Returns', filming started this week so expect pictures to start leaking any day now.

That's a real shame, he brings a certain something to every role. Although I do agree that Laurie is a lot younger than the character really warrants. It's a pain he had to pull out for an American drama as well and not a more promising project... something with Fry

Probably heavily made-up, not only to look a little more like Reeve but a standard amount of slap for the big-screen. At least he's not really shiny
