Right, I need help (well, more than usual).

I was in my local this evening when the landlord started to describe a film he saw in the eighties that he has been trying to find out the name of for years. Both the other punters and I are convinced he is barking (or been supping his own stock) because none of us have ever heard of anything remotely like the film he described.

It goes something like this:

The film starts of live action but very quickly becomes animation. The basic plot is that the world has been split in two and the remaining, mutated humans are at war with the dwarfs and the fairy folk.

Now you can see why we think he's had one or two too many . . .

If anyone knows what this is please let me know! (the reward may involve free beer! Well for me anyway ).

Also, if anyone knows the name of a film where the hero ends up going into his own book/game to save a world full of dragons that would be appreciated too!

Not sure about the first one, but the 2nd sounds a lot like "Flight of Dragons"...a bloke enters some dodgy land but doesn't believe in magic, only science and boring shit...but in the transformation he morphs with a dragon.

The baddy was red with a crown and said daft things like"...come my harpies, witches, demons, ogres, goblins....."

No you are right it is that one, I haven't seen that in years I LOVED thats film as a kid, I might have to go and see if I can find it now...

Close. That was The Pagemaster. But whether that's the film described, I'm not sure...

The first one sounds like a film I've been trying to remember for years, so it could be that we're both mad

I don't think any of the above suggestions are correct but I'll pass them on!

I keep thinking of Cool World but that was '92 and has no dwarfs or fairys in it
