SuperSaiyanStoner
Basicly if you wanted to force your music into someone elses life and missed out on the tape loop then here you can just make a tape/cd and find someone else offering a tape/cd to do a straight swap (pm or e-mail addresses obviously) and hey presto!Remember to include track listings so reviews can be written!
Tiffany_Aching
Me join me join!!!!!

Sounds cool.
SuperSaiyanStoner
ok, ill get the ball rolling, i have a cd for trade! It is mostly rock music with a little bit of variation so folk fans need not apply! smile.gif
Tiffany_Aching
Sounds like something I would like, shall we swap?

I am away at the mo but I will be back on Sunday so I will make up a CD then and then post it. Good for you?
SuperSaiyanStoner

Tiffany_Aching

Sostie
I'd like to do one if any ones interested. I'm old so there could be some unknown gems in there!
SuperSaiyanStoner

My tape decks are broken. But my hi-fi was free so I'm not complaining.
MissingPlanet
Count me in as well. I'll do a cd for anyone who wants to swap.

It'll be pretty guitary and will have Mogwai on it somewhere.

i like the sound of that - do you want to do a swap?
Sostie
I got one if anyone wants it...c'mon..u know u want to!

Some guitars...some organs...some synths...some shouting...some bongos....and some (what sounds like) pots and pans!
pots
ok missing planet.

here is your tracklist - i don't know if we are planning to swap cds with other people in which case i'll edit this post. but if anyone else fancies a copy i personally think it is a DARN FINE collection of music. but then i would say that.

another morning stoner - and you will know us by the trail of dead
you can't hurry love - the concretes
good things - rival schools
portions of foxes - rilo kiley
one armed scissor - at the drive in
pablo picasso - the modern lovers
highway to hell - mille and mr hersch
don't let me down - marcia griffiths
if i'm a man - burning brides
wonderwall - cat power
strange ways - madvillain
decent days and nights - the futureheads
the greatest hit - annie
johnny cash - sons and daughters
green grass of tunnel - mum
cunts - some block out of arab strap i think

what did you think?

i spotted a few that i recognise on yours - particularly the idlewild, great tune - but i haven't had much of a chance to listen to it.

a lot of it is fairly similar sounding angsty guitary stuff on first listen so i need to give it another couple of gos then i'll do a review.

sostie, if no one has already bagged you, i'll do a swap! my stuff is usually indie/rock with the odd random motown or 80s alternative thrown in. sound interesting?

Got to hold my hands up and say pots is absolutely right. I made it samey to try and hit a few that he likes, instead of 15 varied tracks that turned out to suck.

Anyway, I've learned if I join the tape loop next round.

pots CD was not my thing, with the exception of Portions of Foxes - Rilo Kiley. Great guitar pop. I will be buying their stuff ASAP.
pots
yeah spotted the idlewild, flaming lips and mogwai, i liked them.

social distortion was cool, i quite liked jawbreaker too tho i normally stay clear of that US greendayish punkish rock.

really liked the smoking popes track, i'll have to get some more of that. probably my favourite on the cd.

i've got really varied tastes so i prefer the carpet bombing approach - i like the idea of finding stuff i haven't heard before.

anyhow, are we going to arrrange something like they have in tape loop or wait for them to come to the end of their run?

i'm always up for burning comps and getting other people's cds.

what say sostie and widowspider?
widowspider
i'm up for a multiple-posting, i have yet to make sostie's one yet so i could easily make a second copy when i do and post it to ya.
Sostie

Well mine was posted this morning...without making a copy. So how about we form a mini loop....I pass Widowspider's on, she passes mine on etc etc?
pots
ok. DON'T READ MY TRACKLISTING THEN. or do, if you don't like surprises.
pots
so anybody feel like making me a comp? i know there are people on here with good taste. i can send you one of dubious quality in return.
widowspider
i got sostie's cd today! yay! am currently listening to it and very much enjoying the rather eclectic mix of tunes...they all seem to be to my taste though, which is awesome! thanks sostie! i am in the middle of making you a cd of joy, should post it off today.
pots - could send you one as well if you like?

So..any good...be brutally honest!
widowspider
yes, i really liked it. missed a few tracks in the middle as i was listening to it this morning and i went off to have a shower...when i got back it was near the end doh! but i think my current favourite track is 'tainted love' covered by gloria jones. superb.
my cd turned out to be a bizarre mix of stuff and got uber-mellow in the middle. not sure if it really reflects my music taste, but there you go. should be on its way to you!

Look forward to it.

By the way...the Gloria Jones Tainted Love is the original...its what Soft Cell covered.
widowspider
it's brilliant...need to listen to the cd a few times to really get an opinion on all the tracks, but i'm liking it!
mine reflects that my taste in music is really mixed...it goes from upbeat and motown stuff to very mellow alternative. shouldn't make your ears bleed though.

Can't see why not...though how to organise it is beyond me
whitey
Don't organise it. I like the disorganisedness of it.
widowspider
i can send you a copy of the cd i just made, then you can send me one. sostie could do the same, if he's feeling adventurous.
pm me your address and i'll post it off on monday.
Sostie
How about

Widowspider has mine...she sends that onto you (you WILL know track 1!)

You do one and send it to either me or Widowspider (or both) and we'll pass on the other

And I'll send you Widowspider's when I have listened to it!

does that make sense?
Sostie

At last..my music tatse has been validated smile.gif
Sostie
Well I just finished to Widowspiders little mix, titles "The Widowspider Mix". And......

1. Interlude : is it actually called that or have you gone for the ultimate original tracklisting idea and put an interlude at the start. Damn funny clip.
2. Hey Ya – Outkast : Simply, just brilliant
3. Move On Up – Curtis Mayfield : love this record
4. Kate – Ben Folds Five: amazing how such a great, upbeat record can remind me of such less happier times…….can you guess what her name was?
5. I’ll Do Anything – Jason Mraz : One of the 4 tracks I don’t have. A little put off by the cod reggae riff at the beginning but really picks up. Will have to investigate further
6. Can’t Stop Now – Keane: they get ridiculed a lot but they still make some great tunes. Am I the only person who thinks this sounds a bit like Ultravox
7. What’s Going On – Marvin Gaye : one of the most beautiful records ever
8. Middle Of July – Hayden : Completely new to me, and liked it a lot. Another to seek out
9. Dark therapy – Echobelly : love Echobelly, love this song
10. Powder Blue – Elbow : one of my fave Elbow tracks
11. Come back To What You Know – Embrace : The Good Will Out used to be on constant rotation on my stereo. It was good to hear this again
12. Falling Away With You – Muse
13. Shake those windows – Athlete : I found I enjoyed these tracks more when not on their respective CDs. I think Athlete are very underrated.
14. Don’t Leave – Faithless – probably my fave Faithless track
15. Since I Left You – Avalanches : a work of cut’n’paste genius
16. I’m A Cuckoo – Belle & Sebastian : My B&S collection has yet to be completed, and will have to be sooner rather than later on the strength of this
17. Pounding – Doves : this was the son that made me sit up and pay attention to the Doves
18. Quick Fade – Feeder : is this on the new CD? Will have to get it (damn this compilation is going to cost me a bomb)
19. Sitting On The Dock Of The Bay – Otis Redding : the perfect ending

Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the CD…delivered what was promised. And the inclusion of possibly 3 of the greatest soul records of all time was a real bonus. Ms.Spider, you are a lady a impeccable taste and I salute it with an 8/10.

sorry widowspider - didn't spot that. yeah, i'd love to get a cd from someone. ( thats sounded a little more sad than i meant ).

so widowspider, sostie, whitie and myself are all up for cds. have you decided whose sending to who etc?

and if you want one from me do you want songs i think you ought to like or stuff you probably will like? no point in doing one full of tracks you are never going to listen to again.
widowspider
wow, sostie, thanks! am all pleased now happy.gif
'interlude' comes from a dj yoda album. my friend put it on a cd for me and i thought it was hilarious!
jason mraz isn't really known over here, his album is called 'waiting for my rocket to come'. a big mix of styles, all acoustic-guitar oriented, but he writes great lyrics, great melodies and has a great voice. i thoroughly recommend his album.
quick fade is from 'comfort in sound', the most recent feeder album i believe. also top quality.
pots - i can send you the above cd if you like, or make a new one? same for whitey. making cds is fun biggrin.gif

mmm, new one please. no feeder or keane. ( seriously ).

some nice tunes on the one you did for sostie but i've seen the tracklisting now so i'd like a nice surpise.

and do you want one done? i know your taste now so i can do you one with stuff i think you might like. or i can just make a cd of music that i think is good.
Famous Mortimer
Cool, I'm in on this. Pogo, if you want to swap the musical goodness, or anyone else, then get in touch and we'll do some tape line trading.
