Shaun of the Dead is up for an NME award for Best film. It's up against;
School Of Rock
Spider-man 2
Lost In Translation
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Also up for an award is Green Wing (which stars Mark Heap) for best TV programme. It's up against;
Little Britain
Peep Show
Gonzo
The Mighty Boosh
I think it's fair to say that Little Britain will probably win that one.

I would, but it would mean associating myself with NME and that just leaves a bad taste in my mouth!

Well, I voted. Blimey, what a load of shit. Heroin-shooting, supermodel-snogging, bandmate-robbing Pete Doherty for hero of the year? Feh! (Though to be fair, he was in the villain category too). Each category was stupidly limited and all the same bloody names came up in each one. Final proof that NME readers are stupid and out of touch.

Thank you... someone else who understands the crap that is NME...

On the Pete Doherty front, i read a good theory somewhere (or my flatmate postulated it, can't remember) explaining why they're so enamoured with the stupid loon.
Basically, they've only been able to obit people like Kurt Cobain, Sid Vicious etc. People that have had musically ability, and haven't survived the drug addled fallout that can come with it. But here is someone with (debatable) talent on their doorstep, heading down that very same path of addiction and, possibly, eventually oblivion. So they're ahead, they're chronicling the whole thing. And if he does cark it, well hey, the NME were there first. That makes them the best.
It doesn't.

I don't think that Sid Vicious had any musically ability. He had no idea what he was doing.

Maybe musical ability wasn't what was meant. I think the point was that these people changed music. Sid Vicious, ability or not, did help make the Pistols what they were. I think that the point was that the NME are trying to make Doherty into some sort of hero figure, which others have only acheived after their deaths.
It was a theory that I thought was interesting and had some basis but, as I said, it's not mine.

School of rock should have never won over SOTD it was a fix. I believe this because it was supposed to be a live awards ceremony but Jack Black already had it. He then made a crappy on the spot guitar song -- quite sad to watch I don't really find him funny.

Shaun won't win.
Pegg is presenting the NME, so they won't let SotD win anything.
Dammit.

Woohoo! Well done to Edgar and Simon!
Were either of them there to collect it?
EDIT* Doh, that was a stupid question if he was presenting.
