Ah, I see the mistake you've made there. Those are films that came out in the 80s, not 80s films. There is a difference.
And Aliens is shit.

Damn, what an evil poll.
Torn between Ferris, Ghostbusters, and BTTF.... but due to very strong pangs of welcome
nostalgia, I plumped for those lovable paranormal investigators and eliminators.
So many comedy gold moments:
"You only have 75 more to go..."
"Listen.... you smell something?"
"That's okay, the table broke the fall"
"What about the Twinkie?"
"Oh my God....look at
all the
junk food..."
Just an out-and-out comedy classic, it was so good I had to see it at the flicks a second time!
And Sigourney Weaver in
Gatekeeper mode.... ggrgrgrgrowwrr!

Edit: - PS - didn't
Gremlins warrant a position in the poll? I bloody loved that film... possibly a little
too much, now i think about it.

Oi! You play nice and don't be mean to whitey...Anyway Aliens was filmed in the 80s, and was not an 80s film as he so rightly pointed out. So it isn't even in the running for this poll.

How about stuff like Bachelor Party or Stripes. They don't make em like that any more (Apart from Eurotrip and Harry and Kumar).
Besided I reckon the best movie of the 80's wasn't made in the 80's
Yes kids i'm going with Donnie Darko.

Seesh! You people are fussy!
Widow I think you should rename the thread "Which is your favourite out of the films that I'VE chosen?" with a subtitle "If you don't like the films I'VE chosen then start your own damn thread!"
Anyway, I'm having enough trouble choosing from the ones there - let alone adding more to the list.
Ghostbusters, no Ferris, no Back to the Future, no Ghostbusters, no definately Ferris, no no definately Ghostbusters......
Too hard!!!
I think in a pinch I'd have to say Ghostbusters.
Cheers

And did you know some films were made in Australia in the 80s that were set in the 80s? And some in Paraguay too. And what about those Icelandic 80's films?
Why aren't they on the list?
I mean really Widow, why didn't you get a list of every film ever made in the 80s which may or may not have some portion of it actually set in the 80s and list it on this poll? Clearly you were just being lazy.
hmmmm can you tell that when I'm sick my levels of tolerance get substantially lower?

Close one between Bueller & BTTF. The latter wins.... just. ...more action & has a better sound track.

I went for Airplane but can i change to ET? It's the eyes... and those fingers... awww.
on the whole thogh the 8os was a cultural wilderness that is best left where it is...in the past. A recent programme with Baldrick out of Blackadder concluded that the plague and fire of london made that the worst bit of history but believe me the 80s really take the biscuit and fit it out in shoulderpads.
