A third and proper trailer is finally up but it's a bit of ballache to get to. Bring up the flash site and after the intro (skip it) you have to hit the F4 key (see what they did there). Then you have to wait for the 'Von Doom Archives' to load and choose the video. I have to say I'm a bit underwhelmed by this but looking forward to Chiklis' performance.

What an irritating site. Nearly had a heart attack when I saw Chris Evans was in it.

I'd probably be about as disappointed with the casting if it was that Chris Evans.
Ingram
Very happy with the cast of this... again.

phwoar yes please.

"underwhelmed" I think possibly because the video appears as about 2cm by 5cm.

As far as casting goes, I think the chap from Nip/Tuck makes a good bad guy, and the guy from Not Another Teen Movie could do a perfectly good job. A lot of the people who do stupid teen comedies never get the chance to do something different, hopefully he could end up an exception.

Isn't that Phil Jupitus driving the firetruck towards the end?

The Main Cast:

Ioan Gruffudd - Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic
Michael Chiklis - Ben Grimm/The Thing
Jessica Alba - Susan Storm/The Invisible Woman
Chris Evans - Johnny Storm/The Human Torch
Julian McMahon - Victor Von Doom/Doctor Doom

Ioan Gruffudd - Lancelot from King Arthur
Michael Chiklis - Mackey from The Shield
Jessica Alba - Max from Dark Angel
Chris Evans - Jake from Not Another Teen Movie
Julian McMahon - Christian Troy from Nip/Tuck

...just in case smile.gif

I always pictured Mr. Fantastic as a Hugh Hefner type, I think Ioan is too young and too Welsh for the part.

EDIT: But having said that, I'm sure hollywood voice coaches can do something about it.
Svein
It won't have a thing (pardon the pun) on the 1990s Fantastic Four!
whitey
Japanese trailer gives a good idea of the no-brainer tone they've gone for: "Victor's not that bad."
Blind I/O
I'm just worried about what he wants

I didn't have the highest of hopes for the script, or for the film at all, but that looks atrocious.

Although, I like the little heart after "Why thank you, so are you". Japanese subtitles rule.
whitey
Yeah, but I'll still see it and I dare say I'll enjoy it. Effects, Chiklis, superheroes... what's not to like?
Blind I/O
The sickeningly stupid writing, acting and production?

Maybe I'm assuming too much, but I doubt it'll actually be a good film. I love an explosion and a pretty girl in a tight bodysuit as much as the next man, but it looks so... crappy.
Pretty weak arguement, I know. And part of me will probably enjoy it, if I actually go to see it.

Is this Chiklis worthwhile then? I've only encountered him as Chihiro's pappy...

He's brilliant in The Shield.
Sickeningly stupid and entertainingly stupid are wildly different things.
Blind I/O
Yes they are, but I fear this one may lean away from being entertaining and just be annoying. Y'never know, though, I suppose.
kid_koala
even though it's likely to be most crap, i may just see this, as Dr.Doom is the coolest comic book villain ever. except maybe Darkseid. however, ive got a feeling that Dr Doom won't be nearly as cool as he is in the comics, unless he's played by MF Doom cool.gif

Jessica Alba - Susan Storm/The Invisible Woman

Isn't that Susan Richards? She is married to Reed after all, even though she is Johnny's sister.
Link
This is clearly set before they got married.
whitey
They managed to make it about four years in the comics before they got hitched.

"Susan, I know we're about to die and there is no hope at all but girl, I love you."
"Oh Reed, I love you too! I have always loved you!"
"I'm so sorry I got you into this mess."
"Uh, Reed, I voluteered to go into space-"
"It's al my fault you became a Super Hero! Why did I do it? WHY!?"
"Reed, Reed, look at me. We're going to be fine. I love you."
*They kiss and some how they are all saved*

Scene.

I used to love the Fantastic 4 when I was a kid. They were always so goddamn miserable. Besides I'd be prepared to sit through a film version of Last of the Summer Wine if it had Jessica Alba in it. Shes so fiiine.
whitey
She's alright like.

Cha, even though he makes me purrrrrr.....still a big "hrmm, oooookay" from me.

Of course, I'll be seeing it. How could I not?

And yes, Chiklis IS brilliant in The Shield. Ridiculously so.
kid_koala
i don't think he can ever surpass his role as Hornblower. or any S4C drama biggrin.gif
Zoe
Oh dear, two stars from Empire.

The trailer was good fun too, oh well.
Ingram
I liked it. I had a few problems with it but all in all it wasnt terrible.

Oh and Susan isn't married to Reed in the film, it forms the basis of a reasonably poor romantic storyline.
