Full Version: Moving TV Shows

When a channel finds that one of their programmes is not doing as well as it had hoped they often change the time it's on or, alternatively, remove it from that channel altogether. This bugs me somewhat, but what really gets me is when they don't actually tell the viewers what is happening. The channel five show "The Dead Zone" had just established itself in a prime time slot on saturday evenings - perfect for anyone with an hour to spare after Charmed. However it seemed to disappear with no explanation, I must admit I did not exactly chase after it or delve into google to see what had happened, but now I know. It has been relegated to an late night/early morning weekday slot...

This is not the first time that this has annoyed me. Any Angel fans among you would have noticed the channel 4 movement from a friendly tea-time slot (a la the 6.45 Buffy on BBC2) to a midnight sometime in the week. Granted the show was taking a darker turn and editing it for the early evening audience would have lost a lot of the shows edge - putting it back was a simple thing to do... but it can get annoying. I post this obviously after a brief channel flick yielded "The Dead Zone" and its new unfriendly timeslot on five. I can't even imagine why they would do it, it isn't as if they have any really good/original programmes anyway.

They are repeating Buffy - from the very beginning. Which in theory is good but the adverts really fuck with it. CSI sorts me out on a tuesday evening with both sittings doing equally well in my opinion - CSI: NY being surprisingly good on the Saturday. But aside from that, and maybe a handful of others, five has nothing. Anyway, this rant is pointless and if you don't agree then please dismiss it as the ramblings of an idiot.

They do it for one very simple reason: to shunt things off the schedules. I notice that for some reasons C4 won`t be showing Point Pleasant anymore, anyone know why this is?

Because it's rubbish and has already been cancelled.
Starscream`s Ghost
Hrm. Sounded a bit more serious than that last night, when they said they "are unable to show it" and put on $^%£*() Wife Swap, or "Chavs go on Holiday" as I like to call it.

What is it with all these reality tv shows anyway, they're all a bit samey & by that I mean crap
Starscream`s Ghost
Wouldn`t know, I don`t watch them. I watch TV to get away from reality, not have it presented to me.

Taste and Decency grounds. It really is awful. I stuck with it for a couple of weeks and it was just dire.

It might be something to do with the recent earthquake. I can't remember (at least I'm trying to forget) if the first episode has stuff in it that might be seen as tackless scheduling.

Was it the whole series, or just the first episode?

Get Sky+: it'll record the programmes wherever they're moved to and will allow you to whizz through the ads in seconds.

Two shows that I love are constantly moved or bumped off should something overrun, those being Malcolm in the Middle and Arrested Development.

Hilarious in equal measure but never in the same place twice.

Like a comedy Littlest Hobo in many ways, but bastarding annoying.
Starscream`s Ghost
Whole series, they said it might be on at the end of the year.

Personally, and don`t think of me as an awful person, but I hate when they stop a programme going out because of something that`s been in the news. If you carry that logic through, then nothing can ever go on air, because it`s bound to upset someone, somewhere.

But then, I`m of the opinion that the best censor in the world is an off button, if you think something in a programme is going to upset you, turn off.
