Anyone else love this show? I've got all the seasons on DVD!

Why did they never re-run this?
Chapman Baxter
I have fond memories of this show. A lot of it was filmed near Blaise Castle in Bristol, which was just around the corner from where I was living at the time, and I used to see the cast around Bristol occasionally. I really liked the mystical feel of the show and the action, which was exciting at the time but I suspect would seem a bit tame in this age of Hong Kong-style wire fu. And of course I fancied Judi Trott!

I dunno... they've held up the test of time... although Michael Praed did not age well...

It's funny, but at the time I remember that everyone went on about Praed and how much worse Jason Connery was. When you watch it, Connery's the far better actor.

It's funny that Richard Carpenter came up with the idea of adding sorcery to the tale and also adding a Saracen... wonder what Prince of Thieves had been watching...

Well, I haven't seen it in years, so I defer to your judgement based on more recent viewing!

I think the problem with Jason Connery was that Michael Praed was identified so strongly with the character. Certainly my sister - who had a massive crush on Michael Praed - was very upset at the changeover.

That's funny... you should get the Season 1 box set and watch the extras... He's not aged well at all!!!!

Mind you, neither has Mark Ryan, who played Nasir...

Ask her...

"Nasir - Fat old Yorkie?"
"Robin - Aging queen?"
Raven
Yep, used to watch this - have a few of them on video somewhere too.

Can still remember ruining Michael Pread's exit for my sister by dropping in a well timed "I think he's dead Marion" when she is explaining to Much that Robin isn't coming back . . biggrin.gif

Bastard!!!

That episode as the best shot from a TV show, IMHO... Where Robin fires the arrow in the air and the background is this firey red...

Is this the show that had the catchy theme tune

robin, robin....the hooded man

Enya did it didn't they?

Yes and no... It was that song, but it was Clannad, not Enya.

I used to love this programme. They didn`t repeat it because of Baywatch, at least, that`s what I reckon.

Wasn`t Ray Winstone Will Scarlett or something???

That's right. And that big bloke out of Casualty was Little John.
Starscream`s Ghost
Clive Mantle. I met him, once. He`s a beast of a man.

I loved this series as well and have all of the dvds.

I think the main problems with the 3rd series were dropping production values and aging performers.

In the first 2 series I think everybody did their own stunts but in the third there's blatent use of doubles for everything, even something as simple as jumping out of a tree.

The best bit in the third series for me was the fight on the log bridge where you can see a bloke in a bright red jumper just standing there on the opposite bank laugh.gif

BTW on the subject of Judi Trott, she aged very well still very erm hot in the documentries wub.gif

More of her? Surely that's a good thing - provided it's not in the Vanessa Phelps direction! tongue.gif
