Now mind be nice here, it's just a poll, nothing to do with Spaced (other than the obvious Sci-Fi Cult thing) - So no getting worked up, it doesn't change anything!

If the words Toys and Pram have to be used I'll be very cross

Now! Chut, chut, Watto

It is a bit of a shame. He's the best Dr Who in a long while.

He's been for only Who for a long time . . . wink.gif

I really like him, I'm all for him not doing a 2nd series but only (there always is eh?) if he can create a dark suicidal - never sure of who he is- type side.

I mean having 12 different fully fledged personalities, 1 of em's got to be suicidal!

I meant a really long while. Mind you to a Time Lord probably not all that long.

I'm still reserving judgement. I don't think he's bad, but he's no Tom or Patrick!
Raven
From what I've seen so far he's been excellent, but I'm not going to vote on how good he is until I've seen a lot more of this series.
spacemonkey
I think he's a great doctor from what I've seen, but I also feel that if he doesn't have the dedication to stick to a job after that short of time, perhaps he is the wrong person for the job.
Raven
You'll have to read through quite a bit of other info (about the DVD release of the new series etc) but there is the text of an interview on Outpost Gallifrey with Russell T. Davis where he says that Eccleston's departure/short term as The Doctor was known about a long time back and has been planned for in the writing of this series.

The Western Mail says that "Dr Who actor's departure will unfold on screen," noting that "the news Christopher Eccleston has quit as Doctor Who just days after the new series started may have come as a shock to fans, but the show's writer says the actor had never intended to stay long term. And Russell T Davies says he wrote the scripts for the 13-part series around Eccleston's decision to leave once it had been filmed. 'This had all been planned,' said Swansea-born Davies, pictured, about the announcement Eccleston is leaving. 'You will see the story [of his departure] unfold on screen and it's brilliant. We've got 13 episodes of the best Doctor in the world - he [Eccleston] worked himself to death on the show.' There has been speculation about who should replace Eccleston as the Time Lord and one of the early favourites is actor David Tennant, the star of BBC3's Casanova, also penned by Davies. The BBC has confirmed it is in talks with Tennant. But the Doctor Who writer is remaining tight-lipped on who he wants to take over. 'I couldn't possibly comment but there are talks going on. It's very exciting.'" The article also mentions the second series and Christmas special, quoting Davies: "I'm delighted the show is working. It's wonderful there will be more work for people in Cardiff. Everyone thinks we already secretly knew there would be another series but we didn't."

Seems abit like the Emporer to me:

'Oh no we've won the lottery, the cat just bit into the christmas wires and Carol said she'll be late for diner' - Not Emporer

'Everything is going exactly as I have foreseen' - Empy!

So no planning for a 2nd series initially, and letting the doctor depart (but back for a christmas special) was on the cards,

am confused

Yes, but are they just covering their asses?

It's just that it is very easy to say that you knew about and were planning for it after the fact

'I knew you'd say that' -Judge Dredd as okayly played by Sly Sty

Doesn`t matter to me. The show is what`s important, not the guy who`s playing him. Eccleston is doing ok so far, and that`s great, but he`s leaving, so just enjoy him while he`s there, because I really don`t have a good feeling about Tennant. It`s pretty obvious he`s going to be the new Doctor, but I have to say I just don`t think he`s right for the job. He needs at least a little personality, and I don`t think Tennant has enough for the role.

Has there been any news on when this will air in the US? By best mate is chomping at the bit!
m0r1arty
Well the DVD's out for summertime so it shouldn't be too long. there'll be a torrent of merchandise flooding that way soon

A TABLOID LIED?!? ohmy.gif

Going by what the BBC have been saying today I'd say The Mirror almost certainly bent the truth with their claim that scenes had to be re-filmed . . .

So yes, it looks like they lied! tongue.gif

My faith in the printed press has been shattered...

Next you'll be saying that the Daily Sport is not reputable!
