Lazlo Woodbine
I guess i find myself watching sky one for those time filler programmes like Star Trek and The Simpsons that are constantly on. And then there's the likes of Battlestar Galactica, Buffy, and 24.
Chapman Baxter
Channel 4 is probably the one I watch the most, though I'm not watching a lot of television currently. Desperate Housewives and Doctor Who are the only programmes in my Sky+ planner at the moment.
pots
well seeing as how i've only got five to choose from its either bbc2 or c4. although five have suddenly dropped some decent programmes in amongst their exposes on the porn industry - particularly those hosted by tim marlow.

but i'm tempted by a summer full of sport, particularly the lions and the ashes, so we might be going sky...
Starscream`s Ghost
Toonami. It`s always on when I`m at the computer, and there`s some damn good stuff I like to watch on there.
whixie
I have 5 to choose from at home but only 2 now that I'm back in York. Although that does vary.
Starscream`s Ghost
You`re lucky. I can get York TV.
Jubei
I would say my most popular are BBC2 and CH4, but only because I recently lost the ability to watch Sky1, which would probably otherwise have topped it, just because there is always something bearable on.
Svein
Probably the History Channels... if only they wouldn't play so much bleeding WWII stuff!!!!
A-Friend
I voted for Challenge (as mentioned in a previous thread). In the grand scheme of things, its probably not the best channel on TV, but in the post work hours of say 6:30 to about 9, plus late mornings/early afternoons it rocks.
Not sure if it has its own website, but check out the listings and i'm sure you won't be dissapointed.
My favourites include:

Bullseye
Krypton Factor
Blockbusters
Who wants to be a millionaire
Gladiators
Knightmare

basically, the cream of british quiz shows over the years (ok, gladiators and knightmare aren't quiz shows, but you get what I mean!) ... plus LATE NIGHT POKER!!!

I rest my case! cool.gif
pots
does that have takeshi's castle on it? now there is a programme worth getting satellite for.
Starscream`s Ghost
I must admit, late night poker, especially of the celeb variety, is a guilty pleasure of mine, but then, I`m a poker freak.

And yes, Takeshi`s Castle rules.
A-Friend
yes it does ... I love that programme (Takeshi's Castle), but I can see why some people would rather boil their own heads than watch it!

I still want to play in those flight sims...

Fuck Lord of the Rings... The Special Effects in Knightmare RULED

And, of course, in all of the above, you can't question the wonderful fashions and hairstyles!

Ahhh, Knightmare.

I didn't notice it at the time (as I was a wee-bit young), but re-watching Blockbusters has made me realise how many of the contestants clearly liked the odd reefa from time to time ... you can clearly tell the ones who enjoy asking Bob for a "J".

I love trying to come up with crap intro rhymes/puns for bully's prizes ...

"iiiiiinnnn one, there'll be no hanging around with this electric tumble dryer"

"iiiiinnnn two, your ears will be ringing with this melodic telephone"

and so on and so on ...

And of course, the wonderful star prize...

"Let's 'ave a look at what you coulda won... It's this wonderful caravan..."

And hostess trolleys... do they even make those anymore?
A-Friend
I did miss that, yes, so thank you! Excellent drinking game there ... and also a valid excuse to use the series link option on Sky+!!

and the way the people push the special star prize on and then pull the rod things out before running off stage thinking "oooh, we're in the entertainment industry!"

re the hostess trollies, my girlfriend and I bought a house a year ago, and decided to have Christmas at our house last year, which meant cooking for 8 people. So ... my girlfriend decided to borrow her parents hostess trolly, which is the EXACT SAME ONE featured in Bully's Prize board. I was in stitches when I saw it pop up on there a few months ago. I now wind her up that her parents won in on Bullseye, when they are the least-likelyl people to have gone on there!

(handy little things though I have to admit!!)

And Mini Metros!!!!
Svein
So... Caravans, Mini Metros and Speedboats...

Did they ever have any other "star" prizes?
Starscream`s Ghost
They did send people on holiday, albeit to the Costa Blanca.
A-Friend
And Ford Cortina's ... which look suspiciously like Lego cars nowadays!
Svein
Don't remember ever seeing a Ford Cortina on there, although I do remember Holidays...

Now... who remembers 321?

That's the one... with the really bad variety acts and the impossible clues!
A-Friend
a quick google has answered my own question ... yes it was:

ahh - tried to paste a brilliant image here of ted, dusty and many lovely ladies, but alas it wouldn't work! sad.gif
Starscream`s Ghost
And Mark Heap was on 321 once too.
whitey
I don't really watch TV these days. If theres a show I want to watch I wait for DVD.
A-Friend
and kids in the playground who couldn't do the 3-2-1 thing with their fingers would pretend it wasn't cool, but deep down they were jealous of those of us who could!!
Starscream`s Ghost
I can do it really well. But then I`m good with my fingers. Ask the wife.

As one of the variety acts, if memory serves. I think he juggled.

And your mum didn`t have any complaints last night. wink.gif

Sky One at a push, but I download my TV these days.

i see - (i teaching myself to juggle, i'm up to 100 "juggles" of three balls, although that was a fluke with my average being about 30, and during that time I will have covered the whole of living room and broken at least one piece of furniture in my quest to follow the balls!) (please, no-one bother with silly balls puns, i've thought of them all already!)

and re mum - no she wouldn;t have had any complaints ... she's dead! *puts Starscream's Ghost in a difficult situation making him think "ah, have I offended him now? or is he just joking? should i ask him if he's just joking, because if he's not, then that's bound to offend him even more. But if he is joking, and i don;t say anyting, then that's like backing down, ohhh ... wacko.gif"*

There mere fact that you`ve made a joke out of it means I haven`t offended you too much, and I gave up caring if I`ve offened anyone in cyberland ages ago.

hey, my lego membership is fully up to date - i meant it as a compliment!

your car does look very classy in a cool-retro way (and has been looked after as well which helps!)

also - have just realised the car i was thinking of was the nova ... saw them give that away on Bullseye a couple of weeks ago. not the 1.2 boy racer nova, but the "you can squeeze a family in there ... honest you can" saloon.

*sits back and waits for someone to post a picture of their beloved 1970's nova saloon*
Raven
This will sound like an obvious statement, but really it depends what's on.

I guess I spend most of my TV viewing time watching BBC2 or C4, but over the summer I watch ITV quite a bit because of their F1 coverage, and at the moment I'm watching BBC1 and 3 because of Doctor Who (I know it's only 45 minutes a week, but I watch so little "live" TV that this actually counts as significant viewing!).

Overall I guess I would have to say that C4 comes out on top in terms of minutes watched (although now Time Team has finished - this weeks is a repeat - that may not be true anymore . . . ).
Ingram
Channel 4 used to be my favourite channel, but then they started putting all the good programmes on E4 and then not putting the shows on Terrestrial for some time because they want to attract people to their premium channel.
Chapman Baxter
Hmmm. So far 44% of people who post on a forum dedicated to a Channel 4 programme say they watch Channel 4 the most. What are the chances of that?
Lazlo Woodbine
Channel 4 seems to have gone a bit downhill lately. I have no evidence to back up that statement other than i don't seem to watch it as much anymore.
Ingram
Yeah well the new series of Scrubs is on E4 which means that Channel 4 has the rights to it. But I haven't seen any sign of when it will be making the crossover - it's just a pain in the ass.
