well after someone posted the four tet video last week i thought it might be a good idea to have a thread where we could give a little heads up to our favourite new videos.

so i want to share this one from my new favourite band, the decemberists. they were described by pitchfork as 'the indie rock version of the max fischer players' and their new video has a great 'rushmore' feel to it.

here is sixteen military wives.

plus its a very succinct analogy about the need for international cooperation in the face of an overbearing militaristic superpower.
Zoe
Very Rushmore esque, thanks pots I really enjoyed that.

Here's one in return Blood Red Sandman by Lordi.

One for fans of the Evil Dead trilogy.

Boo!

Give it time, it works alright for me just takes a while.

Or you could just right click 'save target as'.

It's pretty funny stuff.
Zoe
Maybe this one will work for you pots

Sticking with the 'Rushmore' theme (and why not) here is the video for Knock Yourself Out by Jon Brion from the movie 'I Heart Huckabees' and starring Jason Schwartzman and Mark Wahlberg.

Zoe
Watching 'Serenity' last night we were reminded of the fantastic video for Radiohead's 'Just', which amongst other places you can find here.

Just why is he lying in the middle of the pavement?

CKY? Yuk.

Not the best of their videos. Try to track down Inhuman Creation Station. Great stop motion animation.
Zoe
Someone Saved my Life Tonight - Elton John

One for Ellie, watch out it does contain nipples (that's not why I think Ellie will like it). David La Chappelle extravaganza - features a lot of glitter.

Splendid, I'll have a nosey at home (stupid work computer has no Quicktime/Realplayer/any fucking thing to let me see fun stuff)
Zoe
Simple, but completely beautiful, video for Jed's Other Poem (Beautiful Ground) by Grandaddy.

Programmed in Applesoft II on a 1979 Apple ][+ with 48K of RAM.

I think I've seen that, but I can't download bastard quicktime here. I will endeavour to check this later, if Fireman James isn't clogging the wires with his chatroom bitches.

I think it's a different one now, they rotate every couple of weeks with a new animation.

Juice Box - The Strokes

Featuring David Cross and some hot lesbian action - surely a favourite on this forum.

"Please welcome Stroke with 'Juicy Juice'!"
Zoe
Evil - Interpol
GundamGuy_UK
The Chemical Brothers - Believe - Spent a fair while searching the 'net for this, because a few of my friends have never seen it and I was really impressed by it.

The Cure - Lullaby - This scared me so much as a child, even hearing it on the radio would frighten me. It still chills me thinking about it now.

Both excellent vids - especially Believe; its bloody terrifying, and filmed around Goodge Street Station round the corner from me. Not sure which is worse though - a giant robotic arm or the Church of Scientology they have there.

Lemon Jelly - Nice Weather for Ducks
Wife Of Rolex
Will Young's new video has a Look Around You feel to it. It uses old clips of Blue Peter from the 70s/early 80s and has Will in place of John Noakes and Peter Purves.

Ages ago there was a thread where we could share music videos we liked but I couldn't find it, so I'm resurrecting this one for the purposes of showing and discussing the new Gorillaz video El Manana.

I love all the stuff that Gorillaz have done visually but I think that Jamie Hewlett and his team have really outdone themselves with this one. It's grandiose, looks gorgeous and really fits the song, especially the way in which the helicopters are timed to start shooting at the start of each chorus.
*

Cheers Zoe for pointing me in the direction of this thread. Anyway, Gorillaz. I like the video a lot.

And cameos from current presenter Konnie Huq (she is the soldier in the cap at the top of the 'death slide') and current pet Mabel, who is sat with Will towards the end of the vid.

Now not that this is what you meant at all but a few of my local shop buddies and myself made some silly webcam music videos. Here is one of mine, it's good for a laugh anyway (at my expense).

Dunno if there's anywhere more fitting for me to post this but here will do for now.

Who looks exactly like my one of my housemates. He was also one of the strangest support acts I've ever seen, especially considering he was supporting Willy Mason.

I saw him supporting The Pipettes and The Go! Team. Not a bad triple bill really.
maian
That would have been one hell of a gig, certainly one of the most eclectic and interesting bills I've ever heard of.

I love that video, it's so weird and cheap but charming at the same time.

Oingo Boingo - "Nothing Bad Ever Happens"

Aww, they really don't make them like they used to. (And by that I mean "on a shoestring budget w/ all manner of unexplained strangeness.") A gem from one of my top five bands of all time.
maian
OK Go-'A Million Ways'

Hobbes mentioned this yesterday and I remembered how good a video it is. Their songs have gotten better as well, they may just escape the 'Jack White's old band' tag that has dogged them so far.
