Well I went to see Oldboy yesterday at my local independent theater here in Dallas and realized that the USA Film Festival was in town this week. I have been waiting for Layer Cake to be released, when low and behold I found out that it was showing tonight. Of course it's opening starts at the same time I get off work so there is no way I could catch it (not saying there will not being anymore showings, but it would have been cool to catch it in that atmosphere). This film sounds brilliant, I am quite the fan of Vaughn's other works and this sounds easily on par with the other's. Those who have seen it, what did you think? Please be sure to mark spoilers for those less fortunate who have not seen it yet.
As far as the rest of the festival is concerned it looked pretty interesting. Highlights were films such as House of D, Crash, Layer Cake and Ringers: Lord of the Fans (A Lord of the Rings version of Trekkies). I also found a film called Zombie Honeymoon which was dubbed; "a horror-comedy-drama in the same spurting vein as Shaun of the Dead...". The plot sounds like rubbish to me, but I do not really want to judge until I see the trailer for it first.
Here is the site for the film festival... If you get bored, check it out, see if there are any films you may have seen. Maybe you can give some recommendations. Cheers!
