Raven
Unless you have been living on another planet (forgive the pun) you may have noticed that there is a new Star Wars film being released this week.

This thread is for the general discussion of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and **NO** SPOILERS ARE ALLOWED!!

Feel free to comment on your expectations of the film here and, if you already have seen it, please feel free to post your views on it as well but for the benefit of those who haven't seen it yet please do not give away plot details etc!

Please note that there is also a spoiler filled thread and the on-going Star Wars thread is still open here for discussion about the future of the franchise, DVD releases and comments on the original trilogy etc.
Kick in the Head
Well, I went to see the stars gathered at the premiere yesterday. Despite the rain and not being able to see A THING as I was at the front of the second barrier, it was fun.

The Royal Philharmonic played all the memorable tunes accompanied by images from all 6 movies, Darth Vader and loads of Storm Troopers walked about, but the best bit was when the cast and George Lucas appeared on the Odeon Balcony for a wave and a smile.

But does it say something about me that I was actually most excited to see Warwick Davis there?

Cheers for this Raven. The internet needs more spoiler shelters.
Zoe
Get this...

Darth Vader is Luke's Dad!

Oh sorry you said no spoilers...
Svein
I've heard this rumour that Anakin Skywalker turns into Jabba The Hutt
m0r1arty
Thats funny Svein, I heard that They all die in the end

Hobbes
Really? Because I've heard that Padme and Amidala have raunchy sex

at least in my dreams...
m0r1arty
Isn't Padme Amadalalala? So its sort of like masterbating then..?

-m0r
Sean of the Dead
I heard there's a big musical climax with tapdancing wookies

Well the idea of the two different threads is nothing new and isn't something I can lay claim too.

As a forum Spaced-Out did the same when Attack of the Clones came out so that people could talk about the film with and with out spoilers - the idea behind this thread being that people could post their "I liked/didn't like the film" comments without spoilers so that those who hadn't seen the film could get an idea of what people thought - if they wanted to - before seeing it.

Good to see it's turned into another no brainer though . . . wink.gif
Ingram
I plan to read no spoilers, speculation or reviews about the film and go in completely cold tomorrow morning. So far I have seen the one official trailer and that's as far as I will go with it. I like to be surprised.
Svein
Dude...I just saw the final scenes... Darth Sideous is Mr. Bean?!?

I didn't see that coming...

And that bit with Vader singing Springtime for Palpatine and The Empire really moved me!

I'm being inducted into the star wars fold tomorrow and being taken to see revenge of the sith. I am currently working up the enthusiasm to watch zoe's star wars box set in order to get excited. but i keep getting distracted by cups of tea.

somebody excite me. please.
Stix
I've got my ticket booked for Saturday!
As far as spoilers go, I feel I've had the whole film kind of spoiled by not being able to resist playing the PS2 game, which contains a hefty chunk of the film!

Clone Wars TAS this afternoon, followed up by the third installment of the Discovery Channel's Science of Star Wars: War, Weaponry and the Force.

Looking forward to Saturday......

Well, I think that I shall wait until midweek to see it, when the crowds may possibly have died down a bit. I'll make sure to go on a Tuesday, or a Wednesday, when people might be expected to be working, and not at the cinema.

That said, I just returned from the local theatre, having taken in an afternoon screening of HHGTTG (I was one of five in attendance), and two intrepid young fellows were already camped out in the lobby, in their folding lawn chairs, with their laptops, waiting for tonight's midnight show, nearly eight hours from now...
rangerofdanger
2hours and 45 minutes till i see it very excited
Raven
Just off to the cinema now . . . Ooooo the excitement . . . wink.gif
Dance Colin Dance!
ENJOY!!!
Svein
Five hours.... fourty one minutes...

Made the other half watch TPM and AOTC...

She thought TPM was boring, but, other than the crap romance dialogue, really enjoyed AOTC... She's now excited about ROTS!
Ingram
I really enjoyed it, I don't care what anyone else says. It hasn't made up for The Phantom Menace but it was still excellent in my opinion.
Svein
Glad to hear it....

Four Hours, Fourty Minutes!

Sadly I didn't . . . Although there are some good bits they are just too few and far between.

It simply isn't a very good film. sad.gif

I'm with you there. I thought it was bleeding fantastic. The best of the prequel trilogy and better than ROTJ. I was relentless. I was practically breathless when I left the theatre.

It got a huge round of applause when the final credits rolled!

Oh god I really wanna see it! I can't believe I have to wait til next weekend to do so! Nooo! Rrrrg mmmmf jjkjkjk! mad.gif

Don't listen to all these ne-ersayers... It was fine and enjoyable. Sure, some of the dialogue was clunky, but show my a Lucas movie WITHOUT clunky dialogue. I think I only winced once at bad dialogue. The rest of it... I dunno... maybe I'm used to Lucas' clunky dialogue. (And that's not a spoiler... we all know, as Harrison said, you can write this shit, but you can't necessarily say it!!!!)

Go see it... You'll love it!

Yeah I'm expecting the dialogue to be "clunky" (excellent description btw! biggrin.gif), 'cause it always is. But I literally drool whenever I see the trailer. I am majorly looking forward to it! God I cannot wait! (Roll on next weekend).

Just a shame you didn't enjoy it...

I'm just happy that I don't feel let down!

Saw the movie yesterday.
Really enjoyed it. Quite impressed.
Obviously still not even half as good as Jedi, but about 15 times better than PM.
Nice and dark. Though the plot sort of seemed somewhat contrived to get to everything that will happen in in the next film, ... overall, it was better than what I'd expected. There was even a tear in my eye at the end of the film. (SHUT UP! )

Having said all that. ... It's still fresh in my mind. Give it a week or two & i'll probably re-evaluate it & decide it's as good as Droids.

Yeah, ... that's my story & I'm sticking to it.

SkipToTheEnd
It was OK and definately the best of the last three, but the acting was still woeful and the script cheesy dross. The reasons for Anakins turning to the Dark Side were frankly laughable and Ewan McGregor seemed to have left his acting shoes at home. Having said that at least Jar Jar Binks didnt get a line...

As long as the sentence was, "Mesa gonna kill mesa self now." Then cut to him tripping on a lightsabre off a space ship of some kind and dying.

What is it that annoys you about him? He's just a good-hearted simpleton who wants to make you laugh with his antics. How can you hold that against him? And you can frquently see that he is acutely aware of his buffoonish behaviuor and quite embarrassed about it. I feel sorry for him.
romero_zombie
Lets just hope no one unfreezes him!

Come on, Anakin's turn to the dark side was brilliantly plotted, clever, tragic and believable.

I'll pity him when he's dead. tongue.gif

When I first saw TPM, I didn't take much notice of him and you could clearly see he was there to entice little kids to the world of Star Wars, which is fair play I suppose. It was upon following viewings that I thought he was alienating the original trilogy from the prequels. I assume that George Lucas put him there for laughs, pity laughs, and in my oppinion he failed.

Just to throw in one more (and I am a die hard SW fan, I just like this strip):
