My advice is to pick an area- either Netherstorm or Shadowmoon Valley and stay there and do EVERYTHING before moving on to the other. Or you'll end up like me with a shedload of quests for both that you'll never actually get round to doing no matter how badass the rewards are because you're busy doing something in an instance.

That's generally the way I've been working through the game, although I now have a number of 2/3/5 man quests to do in some of the lower Outland areas!
I've just finished a chain of quests in Blade's Edge and am probably going to go for Neatherstorm next, as I'm trying to get my reputation up with the Scryers and the Consortium.

I was watching a video the other day of an interview with George Fisher from Cannibal Corpse and they got him talking about WoW, which he confessed to having 4 accounts and having 4 level 70s, and 3 other characters that were almost there (something like 67, 64 and 63). The general theme of what he was saying was basically "fuck the alliance".

That's a pretty common attitude amongst the Horde!
I was doing a PvP quest the other day where I was stealthing my rogue and periodically scuppering the Horde's plan to take over a village.
I think it was fairly obvious what was going on to the two Horde characters leading the attack, but they weren't very bright about flushing me out - to the point where one of them, a mage, decided to wait for me by "hiding" behind a tree.
Pity for him I was standing right behind him! (I hope he enjoyed his corpse run!).

Whoever this person is he has played World of Warcraft nearly every hour of every day for the past year and a half. Gentlemen, we are dealing here with someone here who has absolutely no life.
How do you kill that which has no life?

Out of interest, I see you haven't used armo[u]r or stamina patches on some of your kit, would that affect some of the other buffs you have on them? (that I'm assuming are enchantments?).

Yeah, if something appears in green above the equip effects then it's an enchant or addon. Which unfortunately don't stack. I probably should get some stamina upgrades though, as my overall HP is pathetic.

I had a quick look around the armoury the other day, and I had the best health - for a level 70 Rogue - that I could find by a country mile.
A lot of people just don't seem to give any thought to the armour they are buying and go for a mix of attributes rather than for the ones that best suit their class.
I believe (although I may be wrong) that aspect of the bandit is the best for Rogues, but having said that aspect of the monkey isn't bad either (gives more stamina and agility, but no attack power).

Although as the sale of that account has been widely publicised and it goes against the terms of use to actually sell your account, I'm wondering whether it's going to get banned. I know more than a couple of GM's that have been considering it, my brother included.

Is there anything in the T's & C's about buying an account though?
NiteFall
Sep 19 2007, 11:51 PM
Yes. It states in the terms of service that the account remains the actual property of Blizzard and selling it / gold / items for actual real cash is a breach of those terms of service punishable by having your account banned. Only in fancier terminology.
Raven
Sep 20 2007, 12:50 PM
So, in other words, if you are planning to close your account anyway, you may as well take a chance on selling your characters - if they close it, they close it, but if they don't it will be the buyers problem if the account gets shut down!
You can't loose!

Hmm, some good - and overdue - changes there (like the addition of more level 30-40 quests), but they really don't need to make the levelling any easier.
My guess is they are trying to appeal to new players who will be put off by the amount of effort currently required to get a character to level 70.
It's a shame they are downgrading Stormgarde, I quite like that as it is.

I was having some minor sound problems after the previous patch (the casting of certain spells wasn't making any noise, for instance), but I think yesterday's patch has corrected that.
There were some people in my guild who were having more severe sound problems after the last patch and I think it turned out to be an issue with their sound card drivers (I think re-installing them solved the problem).
Either way, I'd suggest taking a look at the support forums.

Reinstalling my sound card drivers fixed the problem, although Blizzard's support forums were rubbish. I read that basically, they replaced their entire sound engine with one that doesn't work very well on Creative sound cards (soundblaster, X-Fi) and didn't bother to tell Creative, and in fact totally ignored Creative's attempts to help them fix the problem. Then according to another forum, the moderators would delete any thread within minutes that brought the subject up. Well done Blizzard, wonderful technical support by just pretending the problem doesn't exist.
At least levelling is a bit faster now since 2.3. Although there's still irritating quests that just aren't worth bothering with. I had a quest in winterspring to kill yetis and collect their furs. I needed ten, I wiped out the entire area about three or four times and got one, which is just taking the piss.

It's true that Blizzard can be a law unto themselves, but at the same time there is a lot of wild rumour and, frankly, pure fantasy floating around on many of the WoW forums.
Personally, I'd be inclined to take any reports like the above with a pinch of salt.

I did that one last week. The drop rate is lousy, but at the same time I picked up a lot of XP killing the buggers and it makes a change from the usual "go to X, kill ten things and come straight back" quests. I think it is good to have the occasional quest where you are made to really work for the result - I was quite pleased when the final piece dropped!

Given that when I looked I could hardly find anything in the forums about the sound problem, yet when I looked elsewhere on the net I found lots of references to broken sound in WoW, I'm thinking there must be at least a shred of truth in it. As for Blizzard ignoring Creative's attempts to help, that actually came from Creative's own forums (one of their employees I think).
The only thing I found on the tech support forums about sound problems were people complaining about Vista + hardware sound on the X-Fi to which Blizzard just said "doesn't work on vista, your problem".

Hi guys,
I have a response for you on this, I'm closing the second thread so discussion doesn't get fragmented, we'll keep this one as the "main" thread on this topic.
As many Creative soundcard owners are discovering, Blizzard recently made changes to the WoW client that have impacted the audio experience significantly. Our developer relations group were given minimal advance warning that these changes were about to occur, and our subsequent requests to Blizzard for clarification as to why the changes were made have gone unanswered.
The new audio implementation in WoW uses a 3rd party audio middleware system which offers a generic software mixer with some reverb effects. Creative has worked with the middleware company in question and already implemented a hardware audio path that enables 3D audio mixing and DSP based effects processing on Audigy and X-Fi cards. "Bioshock" uses this system to great effect, and it is relatively straight forward for developers to support. We have offered to help Blizzard enable this hardware audio path but they haven't taken us up on it.
Many Creative soundcard owners are pointing out that their audio experience is nowhere near as compelling as it used to be, which is a great shame. We will continue to seek a better resolution to the current situation with Blizzard. In the interim, we would encourage Creative soundcard owners to let Blizzard know that they would very much like to have their audio experience restored to its former glory.

It may have been poorly worded, but the point I was making was that there are an awful lot of WoW players, and former players, who spend a large amount of time on the various WoW forums bitching about Blizzard, so you can't believe
everything you read.
I know there have been sound issues with the previous patch, but there are a lot of people who seem to think that because they pay Blizzard a fee each month, they should sort
all of the problems they have, even when they are down to problems with the users own PC.
