Yeah. Fucking Argent Dawn. Has to be said, I'm more than slightly disappointed at the Death Knight so far. The rune system is a bit useless (think Rogue ebergy, but with seperate bars for each talent tree and you're about there) and a level 55 character starting with 6 skills? One of which is summoning a steed? That's more than a touch shit. but then again, it is only the alpha testing stage, so I'll reserve full judgement for a bit and instead enjoy exploring Northrend. In between crashes.

I've always felt there aren't enough Argent Dawn quests, and the various drops you can hand in for rep are an excruciatingly slow way to get to exalted.
In other news, I'm about 5,000 shy of getting to exalted with Netherwing Flight - dragon mount, cool!

Is there actually any point in getting exalted with the Argent Dawn any more? I thought that was only so you could get cheaper epics, which are all pre-burning crusade and thus shitter than even greens that you get from the outlands?

Naxx attunement. Since it's getting moved in WotLK, the current speculation is that there will be advantages to having AD rep at a decent level. Although I suspect if this is the case they'll be reappearing in Northrend so as to prevent EPL from being flooded by power crazed 80s.
Raven
May 22 2008, 12:24 AM
If memory serves, they also have quite a good frost damage head armour buff/patch (not sure what you call it) that is pretty good at level 60 and beyond if you have a Frost Mage - as I do!

Under 2K to exalted with Netherwing now, I found a few eggs this evening!

I started leveling a human warrior late last year, I really should go back and do more, my guild is also short of good tanks!
I now need around 1,000 rep with Netherwing to get to exaulted, should manage that this evening!

That will be beaten by green armour as soon as Lich King comes out!

I'm not bothering with armour anymore, per say, but I did get my rep up with the Netherwing Flight so I now have a dragon mount.
I'm generally just doing the dailys and grinding for rep and money - and leveling my alts!
Raven
Jun 26 2008, 02:00 PM
If you haven't, I'd suggest doing the Summer Festival bonfire quests!
If you are at level 70 you'll get a lot of money out of them (especially if you do the alternate faction's bonfires) and if you are still leveling you get a moderate amount of gold and a truck load of XP!

I've decided to have a real crack at playing a Horde character, so - to that end - I started an Undead Rogue on Lightbringer yesterday. I've only managed to get up to level 10 so far, but it's odd seeing so many new areas of the game (I've never been in there before, but the Undercity is pretty cool!).
Also, levelling is a bitch when you don't have a high level alt to sponsor you!

So, the honkingly enormous (1.62 gig) 3.02 patch has landed and all you good people can see some of the wonders that I've been playing with on the beta for the last few months. I fear my time of smugness is drawing to a close.

Yep, I downloaded the patch overnight on Monday, which just means installing it tonight when I get home.
I'm looking forward to touring some of the new areas and taking a look at inscribing (have you seen the price of Silverleaf and Peacebloom in the AH?! Someone was asking 3g for 5 yesterday!).
Not quite so keen on the joy/fun of having to work out my new talent trees!

Ooh, that's an idea, I need some more gold for my Gigantique bag and frankly the daily quests just aren't doing it for me any more. As for spec, remember that at some point they are going to implement dual spec, which when combined with the new unified spellpower stat is going to make me as a dual moonkin / resto druid very popular in raids I reckon.

Cock.
The update failed to install three times this evening, before it rolled me back to version 2.0. When I started the game after that it just kept locking up the whole PC so I've had to do a compete uninstall.
I strongly suspect I may have a memory problem, but the two memory checkers I've been able to find thus far both require a boot from a floppy drive and my PC doesn't have one . . .
Looks like this is going to be a fix-it at the weekend job now.

It was a slim hope, but my copy of Wrath hasn't turned up in the post this morning, so no running around Northrend for me when the game goes live tonight.
I'm guessing Blizzard have gone about the release in this way to prevent the server problems they had when BC came out, but it's a bit of a disappointment that I won't be able to join in the fun tonight . . .

Raven
Nov 14 2008, 02:07 PM
My main characters are on Aggramar. It's a long time since I last had to queue – over a year I think. I've been reading the realm forums and there is apparently a hardware issue that is being compounded by the higher than usual number of players.
I was able to go straight onto an RP server I have a character on, but I don't have a high level character there so it was a bit pointless.

its a long shot but anyone on the US servers? After playing final fantasy online I got tempted to try WoW, and got a US copy to ay with my friends from FF, whihc im kinda wishing I hadnt now as it turns out load sof my old school mates play on the EU servers >.<
Its annoying they segregate it realy, on final fantasy online you had everyone playing togther, hell even from the orient! it had an in game translator so you could talk to each other still! Having aid that though WoW is alot more suer friendly than FF was!
How are people finding WoTLK? Gotta say im loving the death knight ATM! Its too good though... im just waiting for the nerf! Just like they did to my beloved ret pally .......

I tend to go through phases of playing WoW and the release of Wrath has fallen in the middle of one of my more inactive periods.
I've looked around the start areas, done some quests and got profession training, but I've not levelled either of my level 70 characters yet, and have actually been playing a level 43 warrior over the last few weeks.
It could be another 18+ months before the next expansion - I just don't see the point of rushing through all of the new content in a couple of weeks.
SuperSaiyanStoner
Dec 5 2008, 01:28 AM
definatly not! I have a friend at work who plays wow (EU server, go figure!) and he took 2 weeks of work a soon as wrath dropped and he now has most of his 70's up to 80, done all the instances and he says hes bored allready! Not suprised!
I got my ret pally to 71 then after realising how cool Death Knight is and fun to play ive just finished doing all the outlands stuff again and I am now back in northrend (as of today!) with my lvl 68 DK.
Honestly though, they need some armor dyes! Im supposed to be a death knight im all a missmatch of different coloured plate I look more like a backwards street performer! Still nothing beats the ability to let you and your party ride mounted across water! Even more so when some poor sod has to actualy swim it and you ride past, stop, rear your horse and give a little wave then carry on running......... man im a bastard!

I was levelling my fishing in Nagrand the other day, on the lake to the north of the Horde base, and derived quite a lot of amusement from watching cocky Death Knights getting knocked off their mounts by the water elementals in the lake. You would see a rider merrily ploughing their way across the lake before a frost bolt would rise out of the depths and they would disappear with a splash - very amusing!
SuperSaiyanStoner
Dec 5 2008, 06:19 PM
haha it is true! If your gonna be cocky, make sure theres nothing nearby that will agro! Or youll look a right idiot! Same goes for party members that are benefiting from your path of frost, if they stray too far they will drop into the water!
On the downside DK's dont start with any proffesions leveled. You get first aid at 275 i think but in terms of mining etc they are 0. And quite a few times I was out there, lvl 58 mining copper to have some level 5 walk past and laugh at me! quite demeaning!
Raven
Dec 5 2008, 08:23 PM
Do your low level mining etc in the opposing factions starting areas - they aren't quite so lippy (and you have the added feel-good factor of knowing you are not hurting your own team!).

thats not a too shabby idea! Didnt think of that. I got lazy in the end and bough ores to smelt my way through the skillups.
Unfortunatly since wrath everyone seems to have lost what little civility they had left and now in northrend i find myself having allys actualy trying to mine the same node i am currently mining, stealing kills, bursting past you while you deal with some trash mob to take the boss you were working towards. Shame as I always try to make sure i dont do that stuff!

It is bloody annoying when that happens, especially when someone else tries to farm the mining node you are already using. If I'm herb gathering as my Rogue, and get attacked by something whilst I'm doing it and someone tries to gather the plant I was going for, I usually vanish so the attacker goes for them and then finish picking the herb myself. It doesn't always work, but when it does it's very rewarding to see them still fighting when you are riding away with the loot!
