The Long Goodbye is a strong contender for my favourite film of all time. And After Hours is one of my favourite Scorcese films. Definitely underrated. Some really great films on there actually. Good list. I'll definitely track some of the ones I haven't seen down.
Excalibur is a piece of shit though isn't it? Or was I just too young?
-edit-
I'll second One False Move (written by Billy Bob no less), Blue Collar and The Muppet Movie as well. I'd also like to add Muppets From Space. One of the funniest films I've ever seen and has a great funk soundtrack. Worth checking out.

Midnight Run and My Favourite Year are both suberb films. Two of the most quotable movies ever.

After Hours Scorcese 1985
Probably the best of the 80s 'yuppie in peril' films.
Dawn of the Dead Romero 1978
Very effective. When the dead start rising from their graves, this is what will happen.
Excalibur Boorman 1981
They're having sex while he's in full plate armour? Don't be so silly.
The Fury De Palma 1978
Ludicrous but fun.
The Haunting Wise 1963
One of the scariest films I have ever seen.
Near Dark Bigelow 1987
Liked it.
Withnail and I Robinson 1987
One of those films I can watch again and again without tiring of it.

Yeah, Midnight Run's fucking fantastic. I'll never forget cringing through the TV edit the BBC used to put on. And it's got Joey Pants in it.

After Hours Scorcese - One of my Favourite Scorsese films, part of the Yuppie in peril craze
A Boy & His Dog LQ Jones - a must buy
Choose Me Rudolph saw it when I was a kid, don't remember much about it
Cutters Way Passer ditto
Dawn of the Dead Romero not sure why this is in here!
Excalibur Boorman looks stunning
The Fury De Palma a nice schlocky Scanners type movie
The Haunting Wise one of the greatest horror films ever, and is still scary
The Last Detail Ashby its OK
The Last Wave Weir freaky
The Long Goodbye Altman a great modern film noir
Midnight Run Brest this is how good this film is. Its one of De Niro's best performances, and Charles Grodin is even better in it. Best swearing in a movie EVER
The Muppet Movie Frawley its exactly that
My Favourite Year Benjamin one of Peter O'Tooles best films
Near Dark Bigelow Vampires and 3 members of the Aliens cast, including Paxton...what more do you need
North Dallas Forty Kotcheff - American Football...yawn. Saw it years ago, may need re-asessment
O Lucky Man Anderson who can forget pig man!!!!
One False Move Franklin Very early Billy Bob Thornton script. Bill Paxton is excellent
Sabotage Hitchcock - Hitchcock never made a totally shit film. So this is good
The Sugarland Express Speilberg Very good. William Atherton in nice guy shocker
The Warriors Hill Great (dated) movie. Great soundtrack
Withnail and I Robinson - Again, why is this in there...but then it is an American list

If The haunting is the one I'm thinking of then it's brilliant. The suspense is amazing despite the fact you never actually see anything supernatural except for one scene.
Warriors is great entertainment. I've seen it a few times. Sostie is right in that it's dated but that doesn't detract from the enjoyment.

Rockstar Games (GTA, Manhunt) are developing a videogame based on it as a concession to this current trend of games based on old films (The Thing, Godfather, Taxi Driver??!).

Edited by the Beeb as 'a broken pencil'. Slightly better I think and a rare example of them making an effort when editing the swearing.
This reminds me, I really should start buying 'Premiere' again. What an intelligent and varied film magazine it is and it's always interesting to get the American point of view.
