Same could be said of a considerable number of current sitcoms, BBC or otherwise. There's a new series of Two Pints... blah de blah about to start on BBC3, so the advert I wasn't quick enough to switch away from informed me last night. Then there's all the post-Ted Ardal O'Hanlon vehicles, etc., etc.. In comparison, Hyperdrive is fucking Wildean.
Can't argue with that.

I just watched the last in the current series, hoping there would be a 'save the best till last' idea but no it was rather average with a uninteresting cliff hanger.

I thought it was another enjoyable half hour. I enjoyed seeing Kevin Eldon get more of a story than previously, and I liked the open ending.
I may be alone in this, but I genuinely look forward to a second series.
Now that it's all over, I really can't see why some people have taken such a fervent dislike to this show. I can understand people not classing it in the same league as some of the greater sitcoms in recent memory, but it's been far from terrible.

Not very far away though. Round the corner a bit perhaps.
I've never seen what's so great about Kevin Eldon either.
Glad it's over. Will not be watching any further episodes. I sat in hope last night that I could feel something positive about it, get at least one laugh, give it a final chance on the final episode but no. It changed my mood from cheerfully optimistic to fucking annoyed.

Wow, it must have been offensively bad to have actually made you annoyed. What part exactly made you annoyed? That is was such a waste of your licence fee? That you've written something obviously better that was passed over for Hyperdrive? I'd love to know why you have such an adverse reaction to it.
If you're that badly effected by a middle ground show like Hyperdrive what do you feel when you see a really abysmal show like The Green Green Grass?

I wanted to like Hyperdrive, I seriously did. I didn't have that hope for Green Green Grass and therefore just didn't give it any more chances whatsoever after watching the first one.
Which was worse than Hyperdrive if that's any consolation.

Overall, it wasn't a great show. I thought it was going to pick up after the 3rd episode (which was the best one in my book as it actually made me laugh), but no. It's a real shame as this could have been great if the writers had been a bit more brave.
I hope that the writers have had a look over the net about all the comments on there show and take into account what has been said and really make series 2 something sepcial. Either that or I want my licence fee back.

Don't let it get to you, just sit back and bask in the glowing fact that we have superior taste.

Sorry if I'd given the impression that it gets to me that people regard this show with such low regard, but I don't really mind what other people think. I just wondered if they could see something awful that I couldn't. It turns out it just isn't their cup of tea.
Different strokes and all that...

I actually thought that the best episode of the series was last nights one. I didn't really like the other episodes, although they were entertaining, but I found last nights episode very funny. I'm now quite looking forward to the second series if it's like that episode.

I'm staying positive and looking forward to tjhe next one.
I couldn't help but think of the plethora of stuff they can call upon when writing a series like this. So much to reference over the course of decades of sci-movies and TV (eg. Star Wars, Blakes 7, Space 1999, Alien, etc...). Right now its so frustrating because it could be miles better.
I did genuinely laugh out loud last night (rare in Hyperdrive) at the bit when Nick was reading out the supervisor's report on one of his crew members. He was talking about how one of his crew liked to retire to a room and make small models of their colleagues....out of human excrement!

im just annoyed because I was expecting so much more from it.....is that so wrong. I gave the show a few episodes to get going but the series never found its feet in my opinion. But like somebody else said with a second series in the bag maybe they can change a few things about and have an improved show next time around.

Does anyone know how much (£) the writers would get for writing a series like Hyperdrive ?
Is it big bucks, or not?

I can't understand this negativity towards Hyperdrive
Alright, its not groudnbreaking, but it is quite smartly written, there are a few chuckles to be had, there's a bit of nice character development. Like someone said, sci fi and comedy are the two hardest things to do....give the guys a break!!
Maybe we just all expect too much from a tv show...
Personally, i thought a couple of the eps were a bit so-so, but its a show in it;s infancy, wait and see what series two is like.
