Any fellow aussie spaced fans know when HF will be premiering locally in cinemas?

Cheers

Well, I read somewhere some months ago that our release date is meant to be in early March, about 3 weeks after the UK release. But I haven't seen any official proof to back that up yet. sad.gif

We Aussie's are always forgotten by the northern hemisphere, hey? sad.gif Even though some of us are the biggest fans of these boys' fantastic work! rolleyes.gif
As I mentioned in another thread, our biggest cinema chain doesn't even mention Hot Fuzz or Big Nothing for upcoming release in the next few months! huh.gif This has me a little worried.

You'd at least think that Big Nothing would get coverage here...American film and all.

I don't think Big Nothing even is an American movie. The trailer weirded me out, Simon all decked out in an American accent. Still would like to see it though.
I thought HF was released here on March 14? I'm sure I saw it somewhere, but can't for the life of me remember where.
dolfyn
Just found this, saying Aussie release date for Hot Fuzz is 15th March! ohmy.gif Doesn't mention whether it'll be limited or wide release. huh.gif There's still no mention of it on the Village Cinema site. wacko.gif

Cheers for that. Margaret's too high brow and out of touch with the common man, ie, Shaun himself. The reviews of other punters on that website are great for a laugh, especially the dude who gave it 1/5. What a tit.
I like to think that when Hot Fuzz comes along, Margaret is going to be the granny recipient of a flying kick to the head from Nicholarse Angel. Bring the noise!

The reason I'd heard of SOTD & was keen to see it was from watching the review on At The Movies! biggrin.gif I hadn't heard of Spaced back then, but I could tell from the SOTD trailer that the humour in it was my kind of humour. wink.gif I don't take what either Margaret or David says as gospel, but they can usually give me a bit of an idea of whether a movie's worth seeing. cool.gif Actually, David's mentioned Simon & his SOTD performance several times since, & always in a very positive way. smile.gif It'll be interesting to hear what they have to say about Hot Fuzz. happy.gif

So I can see Hot Fuzz when it's released in the UK, then when I move to Oz in mid-March I can watch it again over there biggrin.gif

I wanted to see Muse but with the BDO and all being 15+ and no-one able to take me...yeah. But apparently they are returning in August to October. So there.

Erm, enjoy the show. happy.gif

I didn't refer to anything. I just have an inkling you'll be hanging with us Aussies on the board for a long time.

Fuck yeah! It's about time. Can't wait to see some promotion (in cinemas, newspapers, and trams (especially when I make stickers and stick them on said trams.))

Also - Big Day Out was shite, but Muse brought the noise, and heat; Pyrotechnics. Unfortunately they couldn't do that at their side show, cause it was at Festival (I mean, Fuzztival) Hall, where the stage is quite close to the punters, but they were still awesome. I didn't have enough to drink and hence was dehydrated and couldn't breathe. Didn't stop me jumping around and singing like a madman though.

I was lucky enough to see SOTD in the cinema, & that's how I got onto these guys & they're awesome work in the first place. I saw it in Canada with my sister, brother, nephew & my Mum (she didn't like it, though)! rolleyes.gif

For various reasons I too missed Shaun on the big screen, and I'm going to try my hardest to get to some sort of preview/premiere for Hot Fuzz.

The wait is more... 'exquisite' than 'agonising' I reckon. At least us Aussies can feed off the press that the UK is getting, which kind members are posting on the forum. I'm a junkie, coming back every day for my latest hit of developments/articles/reviews (when I should be working), and the dose is getting bigger as the release date looms. (also, I'm a pretentious fool who doesn't know the first thing about drug addiction - apologies)

We've mentioned this to a couple of people in the forums, but it really IS worth waiting for Hot Fuzz to screen theatrically.

Nothing can possibly compare to the experience of watching it on a big cinema screen, and Hot Fuzz has one of the most aggressive, testosterone-fuelled soundtracks that we have ever heard (and considering how many movies we have watched over the years, that's saying something!)

Hot Fuzz is a wonderfully cinematic big-screen experience, and just a little patience will make all the difference. smile.gif

Gen, you can trust a couple of old zombies on this one... wink.gif

Well, it's out in the UK, and I've been perusing the forum here and now I'm scared of spoilers. I think I'll have to take up that challenge put forth by dolfyn and theevilresident101 a while back - steer clear of the Hot Fuzz threads until I see it myself. But when I do, I look forward to some intellectual discussion of themes and cinematography, and lots of overblown fanatic praise too.

Shit, I forgot! And longer for other countries of course. I guess all we can do is either avoid the discussions altogether and burst at the seams with glee when we finally see it, or cram as much Fuzz into our heads as possible, then shamelessly say the lines in the cinema along with Simon and Nick when we actually see the movie for the first time. Both good options.
Rebus
Wow, it's been way too long since I posted here. Good to see the few Aussies in this joint are getting excited.

And yes, Big Day Out was very disappointing, I'm in Brisbane so didn't even have a Muse sideshow to go to without spending oodles of noodles.

As for Margaret & David, don't get me bloody started....ok just a little bit then....

"Peter Jackson moved on from this kind of film to bigger things, and I wouldn't be surprised if Edgar Wright does too." Braindead was enjoyable sure, but please, you can hardly compare really. Margaret, with her wheezy squeaky choke disguised as a laugh should be dipped in honey and throw to the bees. I'm not normally ageist (except perhaps when driving, shopping, working, socialising, eating, drinking.......) but I really feel they need new presenters. In the UK, the 'Film' programme with Barry Norman was good, but when Jonathan Ross took over it became so much better.

"English dorks have only limited appeal for me." Really? Well leathered-faced old bags have even less appeal for me.

Reading those reviews on the At The Movies site *is* funny. This was the best imo:

Name: Dingus

Remarks: this was the coolest movie i liked the part where the zombies came

Oooh er, that'll be the porn version then. Dingus indeed.

Hmm, we don't have Village cinemas in Queensland...and I haven't heard any word of it up here....I become worried....

Is that even an act that zombies can perform?
And I doubt Hot Fuzz will be exclusive to Village. The lads will slut themselves out to any cinema that will have them. Keep on eye on the local press in the next few weeks.

eeeeeeeeeee! The trailer is out there. I haven't seen it at the movies, but my mates have. It came on and apparently they recognised it as the movie I've been pounding into them for the past months. And another mate travelled to London last Wednesday, and I told her that she has to see it. She took a photo of a billboard, but can't send it to me 'cause she's shite.

2 weeks!
2 weeks!
2 weeks!
Rebus
*phew* Saw a poster in the theatre lobby for Fuzz when I went to see Pan's Labyrinth the other day so some of my fears have been allayed. Would liek it to be shown at Palace Centro though, as that's where I've reliably seen Cock and Bull, Confetti and previous British comedies.

Who knows...anyway....I'm off to pee myself just a little bit with anticipation.
AusChick
Everyone seen Edgar's Myspace blog then??

So who's going?

I will definately be going to the Melbourne Q & A since I'm in Melbourne.
Might even try to make it to the Sydney premiere if I'm feeling particularly entusiastic and fan-girl-ish

You're keen. But, it is a long weekend. Go on.
Has there ever been an Aussie Spaced-Out gathering? Are there enough members? I'm in Melbourne too, as is dolfyn. How would you guys feel about catching up? I haven't been on the forum long, but we're all harmless, right? Right? Answer me damn it! Don't make me get angry. You wouldn't like me when I'm angry. (joking. I'm a very loveable lad. I AM! DAMN YOU!)

Sorry, all the excitement has gone straight to my head. I'm off for a Boags and a lie down.
AusChick
hehehe.

Yeah we should meet up.

I will probably have my bf with me though and he is sometimes a little dubious of me meeting up with fellow nutty-fans I've met on the internet ;-)
But I'm sure he'll live

*edit* P.S. Never been an Aussie Spaced-out meet-up before as far as I know.
Used to be the only other Aussies round here besides me were mostly Sydney-siders
dolfyn
Aaaarrrggghhh!!!!! ohmy.gif

The Melbourne one is the day after the public holiday, dammit! mad.gif Now I'm going to have to scramble & try getting a day off! sad.gif Grrrrrrr!

*calms down*

Heff & Auschick, I'd love to meet up. biggrin.gif We can work out the details as the day gets closer. Sound good? smile.gif (Heff, your crazy little rant made me giggle.) happy.gif

I'll be bringing my Canadian nephew & his mate, most likely. (Don't worry, they're 18!) rolleyes.gif They liked SOTD, so at least there's a frame of reference for them. Hhhmmm. I might try showing them a bit of Spaced in the mean time. wink.gif

I'll have to try thinking of an intelligent question for the Q&A. It can be difficult, as I get a bit geeky & ga-ga in those situations. blush.gif

Feel the love.
dolfyn.

AusChick
Yeah I have no idea what I would ask in the Q & A. Maybe I'll just sit there in quiet awe.

Oh and I forgot my bf has a photography course on Tuesday nights so he wont be coming after all. It's a shame for him - but for me it means I can behave like a silly fan-girl without fear of embarrasment and retribution. hahahaha.

Once we get more info about the time and location and stuff we should all PM each other and organise to meet up.

I'm all excited now!

*edit*

P.S. Anyone who is in Sydney and thinking of going to the Premiere (or anyone who thinks they might like to try and travel to Sydney for the premiere) please PM me as I may be able to help you out a bit
Rebus
Gnyaaaahaghggnnaagahaargghgrrgh! Why, after moving 6000 miles did I have to move to Brisbane! I'd love to go to the Melbourne Q&A, dammit, I know if I can stretch it I can afford to, but it would be for one day, and it's a couple of hundred dollars, andf I'd only come home depressed because I was too chicken shit to ask a question. Guh. I need to move to Melbourne, everything is telling me to move to Melbourne.

AusChick
Melbourne is a nice place to live.
I have to admit that moving to Queensland is very tempting sometimes too though!
Only I think the humidity would kill me before very long up there.

Even Melbourne has been so humid this year. Is it global warming or what?
A lot of people have said it's because the drought is ending and the el nino cycle has finished. Mind you, we still can't get any decent rain - just horrible sticky humid weather.
And Level 4 water restrictions due to start soon. *sigh*

Ok sorry I've had my rant about the weather - now, where were we?.....

If you can make it to Melbourne Rebus we'd love to all meet up with you!
Rebus
Ugh, don't get me started on the 'global warming' debate. This summer has been a killer though, it's supposed to be autmun but last night was 30 degrees with 90% humidity! 90%! I ask you!

It would be so cool to meet up with the lot of you, you guys have any idea of when, or would it just be at the Q&A?
dolfyn
Well, I tried ringing to find out more info, but there's still nothing confirmed yet. I'm going to ring them every day until they have an answer, dammit! rolleyes.gif

As for us all meeting up, I guess that hinges on the start time. smile.gif
