I noticed no word on this and for once I Search Engined (yes I admit that) and I also hunted through as much as I could so on that note:

Design an original Hot Fuzz poster to win an official glossy Hot Fuzz poster signed by none other than Nick and Simon! The overall winner and 5 runners up will also win a copy of the official Hot Fuzz soundtrack. Plus your poster will be seen by Nick, Simon and Edgar and everyone else around the world!

THE RULES:

# All designs must be your own original artwork. You cannot alter the official Hot Fuzz posters but may use any other images of the Hot Fuzz crew.

# We are looking for the most original, clever and creative ideas out there.

# Files must be in JPEG or GIF format and under 1 MB in size.

# Competition runs until 28 February 2007. All decisions are final.

# Send all your entries to hotfuzzposters@yahoo.com.

So do the guys proud and get out your Photoshop and drawing boards - and show us you've got what the Fuzz is looking for.

I would have posted this on the board, but this [contest] is shared across all the fansites, including this one.

I didn't post it here thinking that Downsy or someone would eventually post it.

Slow news day at the Spaced-Out office?
Wife Of Rolex
Does the design entry have to be sent in the body of the email or sent as an attachment?

Wife Of Rolex
Raven
I don't know for certain, but I'd suggest sending it as an attachment (putting it in the body of the e-mail could distort it).

Best to make it an attachment
Wife Of Rolex
Right-oh.

Just so I know for sure, when it says you can't use or alter the artwork from the official posters does that include the font/lettering used for the words HOT FUZZ? Or do we have to come up with our own font?

Someone asked this as well, and I brought it up with the higher-ups--

The tag line and lettering may be changed. The only real limit is that
the end product cannot resemble an altered version of the official poster.
Wording etc may be changed, its just really that the images cannot be a
re-design of the original.

Also, feel free to submit as many as you want.
Wife Of Rolex
Ah, well I came up with a lettering idea on the bus yesterday. Probably not especially original conceptually but hay-ho.

Sadly I couldn't finish mine as I couldn't draw, cough and drip all at the same time. I'll probably finish it up tomorrow, which pretty much renders my efforts to zero. Of all the months to run the competition they choose the one with at least 2 days less than the others. Gah! rolleyes.gif

I started mine ages ago, then totally forgot about it. Got pretty far too, but it's a little on the thin side for a poster. Finding a decent poster-worthy picture is insanely difficult. You can see the chequered pattern I was going for along the top. Again, I ran out of images and it took me forever to make them.

I'm proud of 'Up Close and Fuzzical' though. biggrin.gif

Simon's expression goes so well with tash and the jaunty angle of the hat laugh.gif
Wife Of Rolex
It's still not finished, and gawd knows when I will get round to drawing Nick and putting in the bullet holes, but here's what I've managed to get done so far. I was trying to get a sort of metalic sheen effect.

Very nice indeed! I'm jealous, I've never been able to draw people.

I second that completely. biggrin.gif
Wife Of Rolex
Ooh, well, there is an element of cheating going on with that drawing. ph34r.gif I can draw people but they wouldn't come out quite as sharp as above and it would take me longer. I've taken to tracing certain features and then building up the tone freehand. It creates a particular look.

Oh, mine's rubbish!...

Ade & WoR - Excellent work, both of you.

Ade, Is that the font they used in Batman forever?
Ade
Danke, Herr Jon. Yes, I do believe it was the BF font. I really wasn't happy settling on it as the final font, but I ran out of free time to change to a better one real.
melzilla
Ade's would get my vote so far...very good effort sir!! biggrin.gif

Humble my arse! It's bloody tastic!

Though, you are a graphic designer by trade. Technically that's an unfair advantage over the rest of us. *raises fist in a Bill Bailey style*

Well, maybe. I've always been my own worst critic - I'm never totally happy with any finished article. There's always something I could have done better. I rarely feel justified calling myself a graphic designer, given I don't have a proper qualification behind me. Modest to a fault maybe.

But many thanks for your kind comments peeps, and good luck to everybody!
Ade
Update at HotFuzz MySpace Central indicates the entries have now been forwarded on to the guys.

Woohoo! The anticipation is palpalpalpable.
widowspider
Good luck everyone!

Ade
I wonder if anybody's won this yet.
