I haven't held this up side by side with the UK specs yet to see precisely what the differences are. Nor have I found any place with just the standard R1 disc's specs. What does a girl have to do to get a straight answer?

Even if I love a film, I lose all respect for it if it comes out without a boatload of xtras, or if they keep releasing 3 or 4 version later just to make a buck. I mean, for what companies charge for DVDs nowadays, you should get a lil bit of bang for your buck. I'm glad I ordered the R2 version, because I can't wait much longer for it. They pulled it from theatres here, and it looks like the dollar theatre option is gonna be a no-go. My mom wants it too, so I guess I'll be buying yet another R1 when it's released. I can't believe all the great stuff you get on this DVD. These guys know how to treat their fans right!!!!

Okay, it sounds as though the R1 specs I posted above are indeed only for the HD-DVD version. The standard R1 specs (from The Film Asylum) are as follows...

Only one commentary and no Dead Right. Ouch! Still, thats not bad for standard DVD extras, which shows just how spoilt we are with the 2 disc version.

Wow, an amazing thing happened today! I got home from the gym this morning and lying on the floor inside the front door was a package from play.com containing Hot Fuzz on DVD! I hadn't even ordered it! I guess someone out there likes me. Stranger still, the price was in euros. Thanks mystery someone!

extras kick ass. 4 commentary's and fuzz o meter? One watch through for the meter and commentarys, then 3 more for the rest.

EDIT: might i say i loved the spaced music, and the fact simons phone went off in his flipbook discussion (which i was upset by, due to no edgar is gay comments) his phone ringtone was from spaced? huzzah!

Better than me. Mine says dispatching "soon" and estimated arrival is 20-25 June.

Does it really take that much longer to get a DVD to Australia than the US?

Personally, I think the best feature is Hot Funk. The Man Who Would Be Fuzz, is damn funny, carrying on the The Man Who Would Be King theme, but the main reason I choose Hot Funk, is for a very simple reason....
The way that Simon Pegg replaces piss taker with p-taker! LOL
The change in tone is just genius.

Anyway, I got, on special offer, Apocalypse Now on DVD so I was watching that last night, high volume, great television. It was pretty great. I got about an hour into it before I had to switch off. But I'm going to watch the rest tonight. Wehay!

Most directors would prefer if you didn't have a 7 hour - 7 month break in between watching their film. LOL (e.g. Total Recall. How long was it between seeing the beginning and the end?) I'm sure Francis Ford Coppola didn't intend for Apocalypse Now to be seen in two parts. LOL Schedule out your watching time.
Kidding aside, leaving a long gap can seriously change your opinion on a film. With changing moods and so on. It's alright.... I know you aint on the blob. LOL

On the plus side, my Spaced DVDs arrived 2 days early. I've only had one order ever not arrive either on or before the estimated date, and that'sbecause that one was on backorder. Amazon is pretty good about getting their stuff out.

Thanks SJ. As Nic said, Amazon usually over-estimates the amount of time it will take for the things to arrive - so hopefully it will get here a bit sooner than that.

I'm starting to worry - all the UKers will have their DVDs soon and will be raving about the extras. And I'm going to have to start avoiding threads and stuff so I don't see any extra-spoilers!
Just like when the movie came out.

I'm one of those people who likes to know as little as possible until I actually see something. I like a surprise!

So looks like I'll have a week or two of running round with my eyes shut and my fingers in my ears til the DVD gets here

Well I have finally received my email from Amazon saying that my copy has officially been dispatched now. They are estimating deliver on 18th June (which is better than 20-25th that they originally suggested)

So hopefully in less than a week I'll be enjoying Fuzzy goodness in the comfort of my own home!!
