I haven't held this up side by side with the UK specs yet to see precisely what the differences are. Nor have I found any place with just the standard R1 disc's specs. What does a girl have to do to get a straight answer?

Even if I love a film, I lose all respect for it if it comes out without a boatload of xtras, or if they keep releasing 3 or 4 version later just to make a buck. I mean, for what companies charge for DVDs nowadays, you should get a lil bit of bang for your buck. I'm glad I ordered the R2 version, because I can't wait much longer for it. They pulled it from theatres here, and it looks like the dollar theatre option is gonna be a no-go. My mom wants it too, so I guess I'll be buying yet another R1 when it's released. I can't believe all the great stuff you get on this DVD. These guys know how to treat their fans right!!!!

Is a certain shop in London really allowed to sell the DVD today?

Okay, it sounds as though the R1 specs I posted above are indeed only for the HD-DVD version. The standard R1 specs (from The Film Asylum) are as follows...

US DVD - Hot Fuzz.
07 Jun 2007

Universal Studios Home Video have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Hot Fuzz for 31st July 2007. Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright's much-anticipated follow-up to Shaun Of The Dead stars Pegg as a hard London copper who's assigned to a new beat: the most boring village in Britain. Nick Frost also returns to star alongside Pegg as a bumbling village cop.

Available in separate Widescreen and Full Screen versions, the film is presented in English, French and Spanish DD5.1 EX Surround audio with optional English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles. DVD extras include:-

    * Deleted Scenes With Filmmaker Commentary – For fans who just can’t get enough Hot Fuzz, more than 20 minutes of deleted scenes with exclusive filmmaker commentary!
    * Outtakes.
    * The Fuzzball Rally: US Tour Piece – Follow Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Edgar Wright on their nationwide U.S. press tour.
    * The Man Who Would Be Fuzz – Simon Pegg and Nick Frost hit their marks as Sean Connery and Michael Caine playing out a scene from the movie.
    * Fuzz-O-Meter – Fuzz fanatics can access a special trivia track during the film for a running recount of little-known facts about the film and its stars.
    * Audio Commentary With Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright.
    * Hot Funk - Montage of clips using the “clean” dialogue from the TV and airline version of the film.
    * Danny’s Notebook: The Other Side.
    * Storyboards.
    * Theatrical Trailer.
    * Easter Egg Video Clip.

Now, if they would only have a stateside launch party.
soundsofdespair
Only one commentary and no Dead Right. Ouch! Still, thats not bad for standard DVD extras, which shows just how spoilt we are with the 2 disc version.

As usual, I can't leave well enough alone. I tacked Life On Mars S1 onto my Hot Fuzz order. (S2, however, will have to wait...)

Wow, an amazing thing happened today! I got home from the gym this morning and lying on the floor inside the front door was a package from play.com containing Hot Fuzz on DVD! I hadn't even ordered it! I guess someone out there likes me. Stranger still, the price was in euros. Thanks mystery someone!

Better than me. Mine says dispatching "soon" and estimated arrival is 20-25 June.

Does it really take that much longer to get a DVD to Australia than the US?

Aint that a coincidence. LOL
Got mine yesterday too!!! And, Game On series 2. I'll have to bring that round sometime soon, matey. LOL
Don't get me wrong.... I'm not your mystery gift giver. LOL I have a sneaky suspicion it was either your Mum or Dad. Not to state the obvious of course. Or it could be my arch nemesis, Hilary. LOL In any case.... at least you got it! biggrin.gif
Still, killed all the Hot Fuzz features already. sad.gif
Only got three of the four commentaries left to go.
You watched Dead Right yet....? That is amazing. LOL
Personally, I think the best feature is Hot Funk. The Man Who Would Be Fuzz, is damn funny, carrying on the The Man Who Would Be King theme, but the main reason I choose Hot Funk, is for a very simple reason....
The way that Simon Pegg replaces piss taker with p-taker! LOL
The change in tone is just genius. biggrin.gif

Just thought I needed to post on here more often.
All of my posting seems to be arguing with the knob jockeys on IMDB.

Nah, like I said it was in Euros, so it is most likely Conor's family. Real good of them!

I haven't watched any of the features, any of the film...infact I got as far as opening the box. Yesterday I mainly got on with work though. Anyway, I got, on special offer, Apocalypse Now on DVD so I was watching that last night, high volume, great television. It was pretty great. I got about an hour into it before I had to switch off. But I'm going to watch the rest tonight. Wehay!

You know.... occasionally.... you should watch a film all the way through. LOL
Most directors would prefer if you didn't have a 7 hour - 7 month break in between watching their film. LOL (e.g. Total Recall. How long was it between seeing the beginning and the end?) I'm sure Francis Ford Coppola didn't intend for Apocalypse Now to be seen in two parts. LOL Schedule out your watching time.
Kidding aside, leaving a long gap can seriously change your opinion on a film. With changing moods and so on. It's alright.... I know you aint on the blob. LOL wink.gif

I feel your pain. Damn this USofA wink.gif On the plus side, my Spaced DVDs arrived 2 days early. I've only had one order ever not arrive either on or before the estimated date, and that'sbecause that one was on backorder. Amazon is pretty good about getting their stuff out.

AusChick, I'm sorry you have to wait so long, I hope it arrives for ya early! blush.gif

I just wish more people I knew had PAL-compatible DVD players. It's hard buying Region 2 discs when you can only enjoy them at your house.

I'm with you there. I got tired of having everyone over all the time to watch films, so I bought one of my friends a hackable DVD player for his birthday last year.

Thanks SJ. As Nic said, Amazon usually over-estimates the amount of time it will take for the things to arrive - so hopefully it will get here a bit sooner than that.

I'm starting to worry - all the UKers will have their DVDs soon and will be raving about the extras. And I'm going to have to start avoiding threads and stuff so I don't see any extra-spoilers!
Just like when the movie came out.

I'm one of those people who likes to know as little as possible until I actually see something. I like a surprise!

So looks like I'll have a week or two of running round with my eyes shut and my fingers in my ears til the DVD gets here tongue.gif

Well I have finally received my email from Amazon saying that my copy has officially been dispatched now. They are estimating deliver on 18th June (which is better than 20-25th that they originally suggested)
