He wasn't.

I don't think I shall be tuning in then. That's a mighty shame, as I listened to their show as much for Mr Morgan as I did for Mr Brand, if not more so. Matt's description of both the Norfolk Broads holiday and the incident on top of the van will always occupy a special place in my heart.

Really quite amazing. Not one for the coulrophobes out there, though.

Event type notice...

The lovely people at the Big Green Book Shop on Brampton Park Road, Wood Green have invited my radio cohort, Bob Fischer, to go along on Friday 24th April and hold court for a couple of hours, doing readings from 'Wiffle Lever To Full!' and (hopefully) accompanying it with a little slide show as well.

It'll all start at 7pm, and the official Facebook event thingy is here...

Warren Ellis' G.I. Joe cartoon series.

Personally I'll reserve judgement until I've seen it. Which apparently you can do on the Adult Swim website. But only in the US.

Filming wraps on pilot for David Simon's ''Treme''

This has been mooted for a while and the idea of David Simon writing about post-Katrina New Orleans sounds like it could be fantastic.

No, he came up with the idea, is writing and directing the remake, molests young children and probably shagged your sister. He is a pure evil comic performer.

I've never really taken to Brand anyway, and this just seems like a completely pointless remake to me. He's supposed to be incredibly talented, why doesn't he go and make something new, rather than treading ground that's already been covered quite well?

And as for an Arthur remake, they can't replace Gielguid, never mind Moore.

I really wouldn't know, sir. I'm just a servant. On the other hand, go screw yourself.

Why not just make new stuff?

I never liked Drop Dead Fred as a kid. It's not very good.

Other than the cobwebs line.

Why can't they remake 'Little Monsters'?

That makes me really fucking angry. How dare they even consider doing a remake.
mousespider
I've only ever seen clips of it so I can't judge. But I don't never saw the point in having Phoebe Cates in a film if she's not topless at some point.

EDIT: Forgot Gremlins. My bad.
Sir_Robin_the_brave
If it's a film, with Rik Mayall in, and it's not American Werewolf in London then it's shit.

Drop Dead Fred was one of the worst though not quite as bad as Bring Me The Head of Mavis Davis.
Omniscia
Goddammit, Hollywood! Get off the damn remake train already!

And screw you, audiences, for enabling them!
maian
I don't see a problem with this. It's a film which, in my opinion, is not very good and I've always thought that remaking bad films is worthwhile.

I was going to post this in the Chortle thread but towards the 3 minutes mark I started to get rather depressed so I'll post it here:

Although I always had a bit of a soft spot for Drop Dead Fred, Little Monsters was a firm childhood favourite. Very silly and genuinely pretty creepy; never mind a remake, why can't they just show it on TV occasionally?
Zoe
I was being silly, I don't really remember Little Monsters.

Other than it being a good source for potential pranks.

I'd like to put in a guess that the Consolevania boys are involved in some way, which would be good as series 4 online (despite some very funny bits) was a bit pathetic and died a death.

I have a question, has the extensive Virgin Media TV Choice on Demand section suddenly been made a subscription service, because it was free when I left home on Saturday but now I can't access anything?

I haven't used the on demand service for a while but it's probably just Virgin being shit.

Well I googled it and the Virgin website is showing it as being a feature of the XL package only.
Gee, thanks for telling me that you've moved the goalposts, Virgin.
ETA upon further investigation, I find this is not actually a part of my policy, and was a 'freebie' they have recently discontinued. Hmmm, no problem then, but seems odd for a freebie to last so long (we were on this package in 2007 and had on demand too) and then just pull it.

I only just saw the new Chanel commercial. I like it. Amelie goes to Istanbul. Pity the bloke is a bit wet looking. They should have got Gaspard Ulliel.

The vibe and music suits far Chanel much more than stupid ole 'I'm a darncer - I love to darnce'. Baz and Nicole must be green with (Gucci) Envy. I like Chanel commercials a lot - this and the Keira/Madamoiselle one signals a back to form.

Just a heads-up for anyone here who lives in Manchester or who can easily get to Manchester, Guillermo del Toro will be doing a book signing in the Deansgate branch of Waterstone's this Monday at 7:00pm.

List of 70 horror films to be remade

Not all horror films and I'm not sure how many will actually be made, but still...
dandan
kind of a bullshit list, and it's kind of annoying when they have fucked up a few bits of info, including the titles of a couple of the films which are being remade - kinda makes their complaining about remaking them a bit of a joke...

The laziness of the list itself is more annoying than the idea of the films actually being made.

What's Inglorious Basterds a remake of? Certainly not Inglorious Bastards

IT, Let The Right One In, Day Of The Triffids, Total Recall etc are not remakes, they are adaptations of previous material. Unless they do a [REC]/Contamination

Another Invasion Of The Bodysnatchers. Hooray I say. I've yet to see a version I haven't enjoyed

The new The Thing is actually a prequel not a remake.

Surely some of the 3D films mentioned are additions to the francises rather than remakes.

Remake away I say. For every Get Carter there is a Hills Have Eye's.
