I think a poll may be a bit of a tricky idea, so how about a thread where you list (and/or argue for) what you thought were the best singles of the last decade.

Off the top of my head I'd rate

Rachel Stevens - Some Girls
Girls Aloud - The Promise (might be a contender for the best pop track of the decade...near perfect)
Electric Six - Gay Bar (also one of the best videos)
Electric Six - Danger! High Voltage
Sugababes - Freak Lke Me
Johnny Cash - Hurt
William Shatner - Common People
PrincessKate
Agree with most of those choices, apart from The Promise which I still think is balls. There are so many GA tracks that are so much better - I'd probably go for Wake Me Up or The Show, much better. But especially:

Rachel Stevens - Some Girls

Excellent track, I listen to it on average at least twice a week (possibly something wrong with the shuffle function on my ipod), and I've still not forgiven you for divulging that it was about dirty things, my mind was good and pure before I found out.
I also rate Negotiate with Love, a very good hardy powerful, angry girl type song.
And what the hell, I Said Never Again But Here We Are, as well. Even if it does steal shamefully from Adam And The Ants.
(Who'dve thought that Stevens would have been responsible for some of the best pop this decade? Don't tell any of my friends I thought that).
Moving on:
Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out
Belle & Sebastian - I'm a Cuckoo

I'm sure there's more, but all the Rachel Stevens nonsense took it out of me.

And YES.

I'd also add Britney's "Oops!... I Did It Again"
Jon 79
^Those 2 Electric Six songs were great. Hilarious videos.

To add to that, I'd say Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out.
There wasn't much indie in the charts at the time. In fact it was mostly pop. Franz seemed to kick start an era of British indie bands in the charts. Take Me Out, had a great video (kind of reminiscent of the South Bank show intro animation). At the top of the record there's this great long intro that sounds like a different song, at a different speed that gradually decelerates to the speed of the verse/chorus. ...It always annoyed me that no radio station at the time (apart from Xfm) would play the intro. ...That's the best bit!

Bloody hell, forgot about "where's your head at?".

Plus "romeo" is great.

I should have done YouTube links in my post.

They must be up there as one of the great singles acts of the decade.

Cool. He would have been in my albums of the 00s if only he'd had all the singles on one album.

And go on, one more
Bis - The End Starts Today

Interpol - Evil

Yes.

I didn't really include 'credible' singles, as singles to me are pure pop. I could do a second indie list.
Sostie
I'd give a big yes to most of the choices so far.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Bring It On/There She Goes My Beautiful World/Get Ready For Love

Viva la Vida - Coldplay

Without doubt.

LCD Soundsystem - Daft Punk is Playing at my House

My choices all seem to be indicative that I spent much of my time at Uni dancing like a twat at Fuzz Club. Good times.

Jack White and Alicia Keys - Another Way To Die (I don't care what anyone else says!)

This has reminded me (well this and it just coming up on Spotify)

Land of a Thousand Words - Scissor Sisters

Great single, REALLY should have been a Bond theme

I thought the same when I listened to the album last week.

Siouxsie Sioux's solo CD (say that when you're drunk) is also packed full of potential Bond themes.
Sir_Robin_the_brave
Anything produced by Richard X during the noughties could appear here (and a fair few already have)

All Saints - Pure Shores & Black Coffee

UNKLE - Eye For An Eye
Rua
