"Are you creative? If you've always dreamt of having your own TV show, read on! Whether you're a performer, a filmmaker, a writer or someone with a talent for making people laugh, we want to hear from you."
So write Radar TV Productions, who are creating a new TV show for e4.
"We are looking for people like you for a new TV show, where you the viewer will compete to have your ideas turned into reality.
"All you need is a video (DV or VHS) of yourself pitching your idea for a great entertainment show for E4. In two minutes or less its up to you to sell us your idea, using props, music, performance or just your natural charm."
The concept of the show is this: people outside the TV industry - from any level of professionalism or experience - have a chance to pitch for your own TV show on e4. It could be comedy, cookery, music, whatever - all it has to do is fit into e4.
The concept is genuine, and here's the clincher: "Some people have already assumed we're going to stockpile a heap of formats we've acquired for nothing from the public, then make them and squirrel away immense profits for ourselves; we're not. We're making a show about pitches, therefore we need people to pitch and in the spirit of fair play, we don't own the ideas pitched to us. Pitchers retain all rights to their show ideas. Pure and simple."
Submissions are open to anyone, and all you have to submit is a 2-3 minute pitch tape, detailing what your show will be, WHY it will be made, and any samples of how you see it working.
When the series goes into production the best pitches will be developed into a longer form, and will appear on the programme. These pitches will be created with the help of professionals, and using pro equipment.
"Effectively, we'll be shooting the scenes from the shows pitched, no matter how bizarre, to illustrate the pitch up to broadcast standard."
The very best idea becomes a full 24-minute show, also produced professionally with a full crew working under your guidance.
"Right now we're looking for 2/3 min pitch tapes; obviously, we understand that it's more than likely most tapes at this stage won't be up to full broadcast spec, but don't worry - we really are just looking for ideas 'in the raw' right now. The show is inherently about the pitch/development process, so part of that is to see a marked development in all aspects of the ideas pitched successfully, including the physical look of them. Don't worry - we're not in this to make anybody look daft; once we're beyond the initial application stage, we become more hands-on in terms of helping the successful applicants kick everything up a notch."
Closing date is... as soon as possible. Deadlines are tight, and the sooner you can put stuff together the better chance you have.
