I've finally decided that I have to have spaced on dvd or I will explode! Do you guys know how much a decent regionless dvd player costs by any chance? I don't need the top of the line but I don't want one that's complete shit. Thank you in advance.

I just got mine a month ago, in anticipation for the release of the UK Collector's addition. I got a Pioneer mid priced one for $250 (US dollars) + about $45 for shipping (from DVDT in Atlanta). hope that helps.
Back to the subject of this discussion:
I love the scrabble scene in Epiphanies. the way it's edited and the whole thing. Genious!
Also, that gun fight in the alley with the kids in season 2 ep. Way too much fun!
And I love the ending to the 'Skip to the End' documentary. That was so funny and just a nice little present for us.

Wow, you spent $300.00? You can get a Philips Progressive Scan DVD Player (DVP5140/37) that lets you switch between PAL and NTCS for about $55.00 dollars (plus shipping). I know you can get them at
Wal-Mart or another type from
Amazon for about $90.00 (plus shipping) . I do not personally own one, but I know a ton of people who do and they have not had any problems with it.
Edit: Let me double check about the Wal-Mart one, but I am pretty sure that is it.

Wow, thank God. I mean, I love space and all, but 300 dollars would have been a tad too steep for me.

Bits I could watch over and over?
All of 'em! I'm watching series 2 at the mo, and I'm still seeing things that I've never seen before ("Mettle" - the TA soldiers coming out as the bell rings, and one of them is holding a very childlike painting that he's done of a tank!)

I bought a Philips DVP342 for about $50 at
Circuit City and it is one of the most easily hackable plyers on the market. If you do get one, PM me and I'll give you the info about making it region-free.

I've never understood exactly what you do to "hack" a dvd player. Do you take it apart or something. Could someone just please tell in general what might you do to hack a dvd player?

It depends. Most of them have hidden menus that you access by pressing a combination of keys on the remote control; some you have to actually do a firmware update which is way more complicated and, to be honest, not worth it. Both the ones that I've had were simply a matter of doing a number combination on the remote and then selecting the region as '0' for region-free.

Nah, I like the ending they went with. It left the Daisy's-head-on-Tim's-shoulder
ending a bit more ambiguous. I love that as a running theme through the series.
Always a hint of that unresolved sexual tension. In the alternate ending, Tim says
he loves Daisy. It just makes the epilogue more of a lovely surprise.

one moment I can never get enough of - from 2.2 - where Mike opens the door to leave the flat just as Brian is raising his hand to knock. Mike returns Brian's seeming clenched-fist salute. Absolute visual comedy perfection...

I now own the Collectors' Edition boxset!!!!! Woo hoo!!!!
It only took a week to get to Australia, & I've been watching it since it arrived last
Thursday.
Although, I was horrified to discover scratches on disc 2, as it had popped off its
holder & was sort of floating around in the cover & being scratched by the holder.
But, I took it to my local video/dvd shop & they fixed it; good as new! I certainly
wasn't going to bother sending it back & waiting for another one.
Anyway, I can now watch all my fave bits over & over; especially the out-takes.

My favorite part has to be in episode 2.2 (i think)
It's the scene where Bilbo goes to Dereks shop to get Tim back. I love the way Tim gets himself fired...
T: "Derek, Babylon 5 sucks."
D: "Get out!"
T+B: YEEEAAAAHHH!
Just the way they yell yeah makes me crack up everytime.

this is a hard question cus there are so many points through the whole thing...
One bit I had to rewind a few times though cus I was just laughin so much would have to be:
B: I punched a bloke in the face once for saying Hawk the slayer was rubbish.
T: Nice one
B: Thanks... but thats not the point Tim, I was defending the fantasy genre with terminal integrity, when what I should have said, was 'DAD... you're right. but lets give Krull a try, and we'll discuss it later'
I think thats the right quote word for word (not sure but theres the jist). I know it's long winded but I just couldnt get over the sincerity on Bilbos face during admiting he punched his own dad.

when Mike says to his army buddy/security guard: "I'm working on a new infiltration technique which involves draining all the enemy's blood and replacing it with Tizer"
also the bit where sophie rings and daisy hands the phone to tim and he answers with this really cocky smile on his face but then his voice cracks as soon as he starts to speak.
and the bit where tim explains to daisy that phillipa forester had a baby so she couldnt present robot wars any more
and just the way brian waves at marsha from the tank in the last episode.
and the bit where Daisy tries to cheer Tim up by saying (not exact quote): "I'm sure the world is crying out for another superhero bear with [animal noises/actions] special claws!".
and about 25,000 other bits....

oh gawd...I must be sad, but I need to point out these bits as well:
the bit where mike beats tim at pool and says "I'm off to point the pink pistol at the porcelain firing range", then comes back holding a pink pistol...took me about 5 watches to realise that bit.
The fact that mike is whistling the Blind Date theme tune when he strolls to the hut where Private Iron is has me creasing up....

Hello.
I have read through this thread and no one has mentioned the exchange between Tim and Brian, in the second episode I think;
Tim: So what's the deal between you and Marsha?
Brian: You know about the deal
(and what makes this special is Tim's face when he says...)
Tim: What?
Best Spaced moment ever.

Best Spaced moment for me, is when, Tim, Mike and Brian have that pretend gun fight. I mean I nearly wet myself laughing. Loved the noise that Smon Pegg does at the end, and the straight away reaction when Daisy asks if he is comic.

My Fav's Are.....
[On Daisy's party decorations]
Brian: I see at as a tribute to Christo, the artist.
Tim: I see it as a waste of Baco, the foil.
or
Brian: That's chaos theory. The belief that the future is in fact a mathematically predictable preordained system.
Daisy: So somewhere out there in the vastness of the unknown there's an... equation for predicting the future?
Brian: An equation so complex as to utterly defy possibility of comprehension by even the most brilliant human mind, but an equation nonetheless.
Tim: [in dawning realization] Oh my god...
Brian: What?
Daisy: What?
Tim: I've got some F - -ing Jaffa Cakes in my coat pocket.

I love the little scene in 1.2 when Tim's trying to convince Daisy to join Amber's party upstairs.
Firstly, the bit when Daisy asks Twist & Brian if they're having a good time, & they just
look at her & there's the wind sound effect.
And secondly, when they're all saying "Join ussss!", & Daisy stands up with a purposeful look on her face like she's going to agree enthusiastically, then just mumbles "Alright" in a non-committal way!

i agree with everone's fave bits so far and, of course, most of mine have already been said, but some good bits i love that i dont think anyone's mentioned are...
First Series....
"I'm not your Dad, Mike......." (crap but still makes me chuckle!)
The whole exchange on the doorstep between Tim and Mike when Mike's explaining what happened at the rough ramblers' (...."15 rocks in my rucksack"..."rolling right innuit"...."i pity the fool"...."come here you big twat")..........brilliant!!
The scooby doo bit.
The exchange between Tim and Brian talking about Vulva...
"What do you mean HIS real name's Ian"..........
......."you mean he's a tranny"
"more than that"
"what, a big fat tranny?"
the look on Tim's face when Daisy says "...the cutting edge!"
the bits where Tim tries too hard to look smooth...like the "Daddy cool!" bit
and the bit in the pub with Sarah when he tries to lean back on the railing!!
Mike in the pink top...."Mike..Don't let them dress you up like a giant cock!"
Marsha's "I hope you never leave!"...*cut to old Daisy bogling to Aswad*!
Brian's "I AM A MAN..." speech.
The bit where Tim and Mike are playing hide and seek in the park and Mike's camouflaged in a bush.
Daisy's costume for her "rabbit!" performance always makes me laugh too.
I could go on forever actually but i have to go....i'm off to think about my series 2 fave moments!!
